Anyone else use this? I'm a bit confused on what it's mixed to, maybe it's 45:1 and can be used in both? Hope it doesn't tell me the info I'm looking for on the back of the can cause I don't feel like going back out to the barn to look
It's most likely 50:1. My little oil bottles say "replaces 25, 32, and 50:1" but it's only enough oil for 50:1.
Recent 40:1 adopter here. I made some of this 40/50 myself a couple weeks ago by adding some canned Husky fuel to a saw with 40:1 red armor already in it.
I carry a 5 and 1 gal can of gas. I keep a 6-pack of small bottles in the field box for that same 6 gallons of gas. I refill the bottles at home out of a larger container that’s more cost sensible. kind of convenient that way.
If it's bi you must buy. 50:1 is supposedly a good ratio for an average user cutting an average amount of firewood, but if I was milling or cutting huge trees with a huge saw I'd probably go a little heavy on the mix. I buy those little expensive Stihl one gallon nip size bottles of oil and and stay shy of a whole gallon of gas. I'm not cutting as much as I used to either. Maybe it's a synthetic oil that has a "range of lubricity". LOL
As I understand it, the mix ratio is dependent on the equipment and the quality of the two cycle oil that is used.. A better quality oil can be mixed at a higher ratio while a lesser quality oil needs a lower ratio. I would guess that the actual ratio in the bottle is 50:1 but the mix has been tested to be adequate for engines that require 40:1.. Of course this is probably more about a clean burn and EPA regulations than it is about long engine life, so I'd be careful using it with equipment that requires a ratio more rich than 50:1.
