Just at freezing temperature this morning with the sun coming out so campinspecter decided to go get a load of firewood. I wasn't going to join him but then changed my mind and brought the camera with me. I get out of work by taking pictures.

When I joined him, he was busy splitting blocks that he had left over from his last trip out.

He cleaned up the logs we were going to get today and marked them. Thanks buZZsaw BRAD for the idea of the sidewalk chalk.

All marked and ready to buck

My part is to make this pile into neat rows in the back of the truck
    100_7185.JPG

The rounds don't look big but it is very wet Western Hemlock - very heavy and seems heavier the older we get.

The winch on the woodsplitter makes a big difference. I love the pop sound on the first split.

The other end of the log. The first battery ran out about three cuts before the end of this log.

Working on the second battery for the saw, campinspecter went after the last two rounds to fill the truck.

As I had brought the car out, we loaded the back of the truck completely up with rounds and I brought the tools home in the back of the car.

Tomorrow, if it isn't raining, we will take the load to Mom's.

    Thanks for the pictures!

You can blame the weight on gravity. Over time it has become stronger. Sometimes it even gets difficult to get out of chairs!

Great pics and video folks. Watching Allan buck reminds me of what ill go through sometimes at a cut. Loving that 300. Be interesting to see how battery powered saws will evolve.

I like that explanation. Better than thinking I am might be getting older.

Have you used it much? What might you compare it with for cutting speed? Weight?

Really appreciate the vids and feedback. It’s really cool to see the technology evolve with the battery saws.

Thanks for taking us along Woodwidow and campinspecter , looks like a productive day for both of you. Stacking the wood in the front of the bed would be hard on my back, so it's not an easy chore. Stay safe and keep up the impressive work you two.

My knees are shot especially the right one so I can only do it for short stints with knee pads on. Mainly, because I am short, I stand and bend over to stack until the row gets 3/4 high and then I have to kneel to finish the row.

The day dawned bright and clear with temps at freezing. Here was the view from our living room window.

To get to Mom's, we ride a ferry. A beautiful day for a sea cruise but we don't see much from the car deck.

The wood shed that needs filling. It will take seven cords to fill this one. Another six truck loads will be needed.

    Every load makes a difference.

Awesome neighbour, who lives below her, fills the furnace twice a day during the winter. Come April, she will start doing it herself when she feels she needs it.
