I got some splitting done today & moved some wood around to try & get things more orderly for my anal retentive tendencies… I got all the older drier Oak moved to the south side & got the fresh stuff split & on the north. This hole is going to drive me nuts, so I need to get after the Oak I have down. I got the old pallets out, new ones put in & got this Mulberry pile squared up. I over estimated my hoard so now I will have to execute another Mulberry to fill out the front row… Fortunately there is a small one at the other processing area that should do nicely. I fixed the fallen pile of Cherry & Honey Locust. I have plenty of Honey Locust at the other area to fill out the Honey Locust pile here.
I like the contrast of the different species, all lined up like that. That's an amazing sight! Good work Jim.
Really nice Jim. I always enjoy seeing pics of your set up. Those 54" pallets are sweet. Jealous of your wide open storage and full sun exposure.
Your stacks are a work of art Jim, nice job and the pride shows. Keep up the good work and the pictures coming.
Thank you, I don’t know about works of art more like hastily constructed houses of cards. Lol. I have seen pictures of some of the fine stacks the folks on here put together. I still have some more cleanup/rearranging to do BUT if I could find some kind soul to come by & take a pickup load of Osage rounds off my hands that would help open things up a bit more.
Don't listen to him Brad! It's like a free luncheon and you only have to listen to a short seminar. He does awful things once you show up. Things like running around in his skid-steer and not even letting you drive it. In fact, he doesn't even let you help or anything. It's just awful. Just kidding, Jim is awesome and hopefully we get together soon.
I made some progress on the Cherry pile today, hopefully I can hammer on it tomorrow as well. The righthand pile is Cherry also, it’s just 2 rows deep, starting at the green posts it goes to 3 rows deep. The space should hold about 3-1/2 cord when full.
I made more progress today, if the rain holds off I should finish this pile off tomorrow & maybe get started on the Ash.
Yep, that’s a pretty crappy picture but it was dark when I noticed how blurry it was so I went ahead & used it.
Looks like yooperdave stopped by to take a pic… of a truly, redonculously awesome stack. So redonculous he got the shakes. Wait- his pics are always… oh never mind. That is really quite the hoard sir.
One of my best students in the on-line picture taking course I offer with lifetime membership dues paid up front.
I got the Cherry all done today, I just need to clean up the bits & pieces, tomorrow will be spent cutting up hedge posts & maybe Sunday I can start on the Ash. There should be around 3.5 cord in this stack between the cribbed ends. The 2 rounds left will go to the burn pit. Somewhere around 2/3 - 3/4 cord here
Yes, what he said. You should come to the the spring GTG and meet my little OCD woodstacker girl. You two would be instant best friends.
