Interesting, you mentioned military and somewhere I have a high pressure compressor from a plane that iirc was used to lift the landing gear. Cute little thing with a fan on one end and a DC motor.
The one I have is 1cfm output at 3000 psi, 220v 1ph weighs in at around 60-75# one of Sheldon's conversions. i have an interest in the new 5200 psi gsx4 unit apx $700. Iv'e only read one review on it by a gentelman that has a gsx3 for quite awhile. internal water cooled system, auto shut off with auto fail safe, 4 stage. got burned once on a chi-com rig - never made it over 400psi - Warranty isn't any good if seller never responds which is/was the case with that one- Velvour sells a similar unit and has parts as do a bunch of others so I can get parts - no time to mess with it lately. screwloose-left my shop # on your cell.
I'm not familiar with these Air guns. Do you hook directly to an scba bottle, or do you use an scba to fill a container er in the gun? How many shots can you get off a full scba bottle, say a 45 min one?
They have containers on the gun. Shots per charge are all over the place a deer rifle vs plink gun type of thing.
For a decent one (I'm not even sure what decent means....), are you getting 20 shots from a scba bottle? Or 100? Just trying to get a general idea of how long a scba bottle lasts. Or do you need multiple full bottles to go have fun? A guy who used to work at the navy site on post was talking a out them years ago, not sure if he ever got one or not. If I see him again sometime I'll ask and see if he got one, what he does for air.
I know some of the 177-25 caliber guns can get 10-30 shots off the tank on the gun itself depending on the power level, if it's regulated ect. Id imagine it's hundreds of shots off a scuba tank with those size rifles.
It depends on the gun, my texan does 3 shots before needing refilled, the 4th can be done but it really drops the POI. Other guns can do 60 shots on a fill. It just depends on what you decide on. It also depends on the size of the scba bottle you have on how many fills you can get out of one. I never counted with mine yet but I don't recall ever spending enough time out shooting to drop my tank enough to have to stop. That explains your bias to chi-com, I get it and you're right if the seller disappears the warranty is worthless. I would still buy another yongheng and/or rebuild mine if ever needed. There is no reasonable priced made in usa HPA anything except for some things. My checkvalve and moisture indicator I think were the only USA made I could find that was cheaper than gold.
when playing air pressure or hydraulics quality valves and lines are a must . A ruptured line ,valve, tank in either is no laughing matter. quite deadly infact.
Indeed, your typical shop compressor will kill you, a scba tank at 4500 psi will take out the side of your house. Do you use whip checks on your lines? I haven't yet but need to, a line that breaks loose will sever an arm or crush your skull like a melon. Good reminder for me to get moving on them.
Find out who does the service and sales for the fire and scuba shops. That person will possibly have trade ins or know where one might be
I ordered up my Seneca Dragonfly mrk2 last week. Weather went to......well, its winter again so haven't sighted it in yet. Feels and looks well made.
I'm thinking about getting a range finder and I'm not sure what to look for. It's become readily apparent that I have NO ability to judge distance. Started looking into scopes and the first question is how far away is your target. Well no scopes are rated for "down yonder a spell"so I guess I'll start by conditioning my visual distance perception. Any recommendations?
I have to double check when I get home but I think mine is a muddy outdoors one. Haven't used it too much to really give a review but it worked well enough when I did use it.
