It still happens to me every year, a fit of jealousy when I see some of these pellet prices others are paying......I know what will make me feel better :drunk:

I have the same problem. Drives me crazy. HD here only has FSU at $239/ton. Walmart had MWP's for $207 but they don't deliver and my back is too screwed up for me to haul them.

Only has FSU......? That's a pretty good pellet, and I'd burn that all winter if I could get it.

Checked HD again today. Can't get anything out of them about price changes. But, they have up'ed the price to $4.98 a bag and $239 a ton. I asked about price match. Not MWP as at Walmart o no price match. Also so selling split tons. Not sure what that is about but I think it is buying half, taking it home and returning for the second half.
So I'll be calling Knights on Belfast ave or calling SBI. I'm too disabled this year to be handling pellets off the truck.
Both those guy will put them in place in my garage. I had wanted to put some in the garage, not use them, but to buy and use until there was a shortage, then use my back up stash. Still might if Walmart will load my van each time.

Save, are you saying they won't let you split up a ton and take it home in multiple trips? That's new. My local TSC manager recently told me their margin on pellets is so small, the minute they break open a ton for a customer, they automatically lose money on that ton. Have to wonder if that's the reasoning behind what HD told you?

Not exactly sure how that can be.....the minute they break open a ton, they sell all the bags at the higher per-bag price.

Around here, Lowes, HD, and TSC all sell at the same per-bag price no matter what quantity you buy. OK, maybe $10 less by the ton so $0.20 per bag. In contrast, some of the local pellet places around here charge an additional $1.30 per bag to break open a ton.

I'd show you guys something but you'd likely lose it. I unwrapped a 1.5 ton pallet of LG's yesterday. I got them for $235/ton back a bit.

I'm trying to get excess trash out of the garage. Boy do they look good.

Remember late to the trough means an empty pig belly. There's pellets at Aubachon, Parris Farms, BTU, Southern Maine Renewable Fuels, and many other places, get'em while they are here, and the late oinker loses his Pellet Pig Club membership  .

If I'm reading this right, I'm disappointed to hear that HD still doesn't have any MWP, especially with WalMart selling them at $207. I don't dare wait any longer to order pellets so I plan on ordering 3 tons of FSU at the $239 price tomorrow. At least the veteran's discount will get the price down to $215. Hopefully they still deliver 3 tons for free. If not, I'll be calling Steve at SIB.

Perhaps they are so bad at handling pellets/protecting them from moisture, forklifts, ripping when being handled that if they don't sell the whole ton at once they assume that a few bags will get trashed and not sold... That's the only thing I can think of as I agree with your premise that selling individual bags should net the company more than selling by the ton..... Would be interesting to know the story behind the scenes...

HD may be following Lowes practice. I'm sure they all watch each other just like the oil companies do.

Somebody forgot to tell WalMart. If I was able, I'd haul 3 tons myself from them at that price.
