Inept learning Windows 8

Please, hang in there. I hated windows eight when it came out, but now I really like it. It is all apps. Once you learn how to get your apps, you just pop right into your programs. Many times they will be showing the most recent data when you turn your computer on. I.e. Social networks like FB will show recent post in the app. As will new apps etc. I think the are best suited for touch screens. But you can mouse them.

 

I looked at Windows 8 on my daughters pute I will avoid it as long as I can.
Some people buy Windows 8 computers and take it out and replace it with 7

Windows 8 is absolutely horrid on a mouse driven computer.

 

I loathe Windows 8. Loathe isn't a strong enough word.

 

The designers didn't consider computers for work and multi-tasking. Windows 8 is so non-business friendly. The office version sucks.

 

The designers were the inept ones. Not the people who are befuddled by it.

 

Yes, however, I'm not getting younger so I thought it best to jump in with both feet while the brain cells are still accepting change. I think it won't be long that a lot of stuff won't be capable of running on window 7. So we switched over to 8.1 on the desk tops, and both laptops. We have android phones and a tablet and I have an iPad. Now with this cloud thing, I have files backed up. Took a while, but like shoes, once you get a good fit, you like it.

I tried open source operating systems to but can't get a handle on that

 

I'm running xp, it works fine, anything beyond that requires me to completely replace every other program I use. That is not worth the expense or hassel. I do not have a fancy cell phone I will not use cloud ( heck its already been hacked a few times so it isn't any more secure than anything else) or any other similar system. All of which seem to have various additional costs on a monthly basis- no thanks. I am not glued to my cell if ya can't leave a message call back later I may hear it I may not I do not have it in my pocket it resides on the counter or sits in the glove box. ( cells do not work well in my shop -metal building)

 

Windoze 8 is OK on a tablet, which is what it was designed for, but it's a PITA otherwise.

If you don't mind spending $5 or so, Start 8 by Stardock is a great program that makes Windoze 8 act like WinXP/7. They have a free trial so you can try it before you buy it. I put it on the laptop my wife uses for all her shipping needs and I can use it without wanting to throw the laptop in the trash.
