I can change time zone 10 times in a week. I don’t even wear a watch since I started driving again 12 years ago now.

    Not that I'm aware of?

You'd think "they" could do one thing useful...

Yep. This spring forward time change messes me up badly. It takes me like 3-4 weeks to get back on the right time. Losing an hour of sleep is tough. I have no issues with driving through time zone changes, the sun rise and set make sense. The loss of an hour with no change of daylight time is what messes me up.

I used to hate it. I was indifferent for a couple of years. But now that I wake up between 1 & 2:30 am (naturally), I kind of welcome the change as I'll be waking up between 2 & 3:30 instead. That is a bit closer to my work start time of 6 am (the mornings I wake up at midnight, I am just about ready for a nap right before logging in :headbang:). But I agree with some others - pick one and stick with it.

No. It didn't pass last year, and it was just re-introduced with the new Congress.

No. It has passed the Senate but still needs to pass the House and get presidential signature.

I like later hours of daylight in the summer and earlier sunrises in the winter so I like DST. It has never thrown off my sleep schedule because it's out of balance most days/nights anyway. Last night I saw every hour on the clock between 11pm and 6am....sleep - what's that? haha

It is natural for the folks out east to want DST and I don't blame them. for some of us though it would still be dark after 9:am in December-January.

It's not just an out east thing, it's east vs west within the same time zone which can be as much as a full hour difference between sunrise and sunset time.

Yeah, I used to fly from Boston to Miami every February for the Boat Show and eating supper while it was still light was interesting.

Our province (British Columbia) and the Yukon are waiting for Washington, Oregon and California to get on board so we are all on the same page. I think we are going to go with Standard time. Slow process.

It's gaining traction. This might happen in the near future, just not this weekend.

There are state and federal legislatures with bills on the docket(s) for changing/amending DST implementations.
Too much polling and yapping, not enough enacting.

Maybe I’ll have to move there.:) Standard time year round makes more sense for my bodies clock.

We're spending millions, and using how much time and effort, to change the time?

'How first-world' is the thought that comes to mind.

Maybe a simple vote would suffice.

Maybe a simple decision should be made.

I did some looking around to see what the debate is all about.
I guess I fall into the what is natural and better for our bodies side. We are meant to sleep when it's dark, and be awake when the sun is up. I work around the clock..rather aware of that dynamic (circadian rhythm etc)
Seems the tourism people want money. The other side wants health, to be up and light when we start our days.

When I retire, I'll quit wearing a watch, and I'll toss the cell phone (it will stay in the house like a land line would). When I go on retreats, solo and otherwise, watches and phones disappear, everything goes by what the body needs with eating sleeping and chores.
