No processed food, anything with preservatives, try to get organic dairy, 100% whole grains, local meats humanely raised, no refined sugar, only honey or pure maple syrup. Water, milk, coffee/tea with natural sweeteners, 100% fruit juice, No fried food or fast food. Nothing out of a box with over 5 ingredients and can't have preservatives in that.
If beer has more than 5 products is it processed? seriously though I've lost ~20lbs switching to Michelob ultra light (about 6months ago) used to drink Michelob light as my staple beer - there are occasionally microbrews in a six pack here and there. Last time I quit drinking beer all together I lost 20lbs in a couple months
Ok, I have taken a quick look at it. No processed food has a lot of merit. So does cutting out white flour and white sugar. I'm not one for extremes, however, much of this diet is realistic. So, I ordered the book and have subscribed to the web site and FB. I have my wife looking at it. So, time will tell. Need to take a hard look at it first.
It really hasn't been that bad. If you eat a lot of processed food and stuff you'll notice a little difference in energy.
A lot of the "rules" are squishy. " try to get organic dairy, local meats humanely raised, no refined sugar, milk, coffee/tea with natural sweeteners, no fast food. " This list above is from mdavlee's post. Surely you can see the problems. Try to get is not a rule. Local and humanely raised is a relative term as every meat farmer will claim to be humane. Refined sugar can be maple syrup too as it doesn't come out of the tree condensed, what's a natural sweetener? Sugar is certainly natural. No "fast" food. That again is silly, a banana is fast. So it would seem this diet is what you make it. The 5 ingredients rule seems to be a very straightforward one but knocks out alot of healthy recipes too.
It's not hard to do a lot of that. Maple syrup and honey are fine. The 5 ingredient rule is for boxed stuff you buy. You can put as many ingredients in things to cook as long as there's not preservatives. No fast food meant drive thru food.
I've got to do something my work schedule has made me add a few to many lbs for my taste. No real healthy places open at 3 a.m. when you need some food to keep going. Guess I need to pack more. Almost back up to 160 lbs and I am not happy with that.
Good luck with your plan. It takes changing a mind set. Not a diet, but a life habit. I've done the yo-yo thing so many times. This time I'm on the ho ho ho end of the yo-yo. The disabilities of being way over weight is so destructive. The only thing I can say is to be true to yourself if you want to stay fit and trim.
Did any one else try this? My wife is complaining about her skin drying back out and not sleeping as good after we finished up. She started trying to use up all the other foods we had and all of them aren't sleeping as good and the baby is grumpy more and won't sleep as well. We thought it was weird but now it's starting to happen to me at the motel with no way to eat real good stuff all the time.
So after you finished these symptoms popped back up? I went through an un-healthy stage in my road whore years. Lots of tuna fish and making batches of salads stored in gladware with a can added at lunch got me back on track.
For me it's not quite as bad. I don't eat fast food or anything like that. They're trying to finish up the package meals and stuff they have in the house. We didn't want to throw away a ton of food.
