Best 300 bucks I've spent on a trailer. Just added some hydraulic oil and cleaned it up a bit and the lift works just fine.
I’d almost be willing to pay $10 a load for Siberian elm if it was that easy of a score. But the way this deal is headed I’d buy another load of something else and then kind mumble something about elm not being worth the effort, then give him a day or two to chew on it. Then you can offer to help him out by just hauling it off for him to help get it cleaned up.
I use pickup box trailers pretty regularly for firewood. And I’ve thought about a tommy lift for firewood. But never thought about a lift on the trailer. I believe I will be investigating that. Not exactly sure how those lifts work…. Electric over hydraulic and pretty much self contained I’m guessing. Just need a hot wire at the back of the trailer?
They are electric over hydraulic and self contained. Just needs hydraulic oil and some grease from time to time. This one has a tool box in the front where the power cables are. I just throw in a spare battery or a jump pack to power it. I feel like an anderson connector on your truck might work too.
Thank you! Cool on multiple levels! A really neat setup and the fact that it’s not rusted to you know what. We have an issue with that here in New England. Not only does it melt the snow, but the metal on vehicles as well…
It's got a little rust, by still solid enough to make that trip over loaded twice. Bout 16 miles one way or so.
I've definitely gone a lot further. I also cut some of my own sometimes. Can't explain it, but i enjoy cutting away from home more. Maybe because there is less mess to worry about usually. Maybe its like saving my own for later. Or maybe its because for some weird reason I like loading the truck with tools and hooking up a trailer for a mission. The list could go on and on.
What type of tree is this? Very white sapwood and brown heartwood. Has a starburst heartwood. Lost 2 of these big guys Friday from TN's big windstorm. Have about 2 cords+ cut and mostly split.
The splits are drying out fast and getting a lot lighter in weight. Hope it is sellable or my parents have all their wood supply for the coming winter. Yellow poplar in the background.
