    No..it's not permanent either.

I've never heard of a permanent air filter on a chainsaw.

The HD2 system is much better than the original system on the 362, both can be cleaned but will eventually need replaced with enough use.

The "old" way was to gently wash the filter in something to remove the oil in the flocking/fleece material and then spilt the plastic housings, gently blowing them dry from the inside out. Hardly anybody did all of that. Then Stihl went to a paper-like filter material that you could split the housing and blow out, but washing it would ruin the filter, as would any "spitback" from the carb. Most people just tapped them clean and replaced from time to time. Just as they do with the HD and HD2 filters.

Dyno Joe showed a 5% power gain with that filter from stock. It might have even been a 400. I don't recall atm

The oil I use in all my foam filters is Belray. Their cleaner is also all I use anymore as mineral spirits ect can damage the glue and foam over time.

I have that filter in the 241.

Im familiar with those old fleece filters. My 026 & 028 still have them. Never have done that. Ill replace them from time to time, but seldom use those saws anyhow.
