Right on a secondary artery road all this Doug Fir has been laying there for a few days. I decided to whip in and ask about it. Homeowner said he had paid a jippo sawyer to take it away. Just found out that the sawyer got a big job so he was now 6 weeks out to remove it. Home owner said he wanted it gone. "When you have as much as you want, tell me and I'll put a" free wood" sign out but till then, have fun!" Really nice guy. I will take several loads out but don't have enough room too take too many til I do a bunch of processing and stacking. My experience is that until large logs are bucked, not many folks here in the city have the ability to handle them. As soon as I started painting length marks on the logs and bucking, people started stopping to ask about getting some. I think I will have to keep hauling to keep the homeowner happy. We'll see how things go. Gotta love the access though!

Good deal! I like the crane on your trailer too. No sense in struggling when you’ve got brute mechanical force at your disposal

Isn't that the truth! I bucked and loaded in an hour and a half by myself (old and slow). When I got home, I picked the the two rounds on top on their sides, off. Then just rolled the rest off. Very efficient. Unfortunately, I don't like splitting those big rounds so much. Have to turn the splitter all kittywhumpus vertical to quarter them and that just gives me the willies. So Wrong!:picard:

Now if they were only Black Locust. But then You would probably have already scooped the score, even all the way from back east!:D

Nice score!! Cutting Douglas fir in the national forest is never that easy. Those are a nice size, big enough to make a fast load.

That is some nice straight logs and in this neck of the woods (no pun intended) some good firewood. Congrats on your score.

Nice logs for sure , not to mention a nice safe place to be working.
I would be all over that myself if it was there for the taking.

Nice big logs and score, Mr Russ. I know you will have some beautiful stacks made with that.

Great find for you and sounds like you may even found a new friend. Now as for splitting, vertical is the wise way to go.
