I use a torch also. I have Propane and Mappe. Mappe burns hotter, but propane is definitely cheaper

If yer out this way, bring a couple 5G pails for some kindling, Not sure when I'll use what we have.
Bring a bunch of old candles, and you'll go home with a bunch of firestarters in trade.
    Any time.

Do you have a special adapter to fill the 1 pounders off the 20 pounders?

It’s that time of winter yet again. All of the kindling I stockpiled in advance is burned up. Luckily I’ve been splitting dead ash this week and have a little splitter trash to hold me over until I sit down with a hatchet and make more.

my supply of wood this year includes a lot of kindling and small stuff. When loading the shed I left it all in the stacks.
We kept some under the stove, and just used the rest as it surfaced.
There have been a few days I was home and just burned off bark and small stuff.
It takes up room in the shed, but I didn't make any separate storage areas.

With pine cones and wax firestarters, I don't use any really small stuff, just full length thinner splits.

My 55 gal drum of splitter scraps is almost empty. Been re-lighting more than ever this year. Luckily I still have many wax starters to use.

I still have about 10 left. Looks like I might not be making them anymore. Word on the street is that Merchandizer went belly up. Dad told me we wouldn't be getting them anymore.

As of late I’ve accumulated way more egg cartons than I can reasonably use, so I may try to make some wax starters for the first time. Good thing there’s already so much information on this forum to go about doing it
