Kubotas at play. Er, I mean work!

I agree..mostly. on my BX...the loader comes off really slick and fast. I don't really have to get off tractor at all. Single point hydraulic connection...drop park stand..off it goes. Takes a minute on a bad day !

The mower deck...well..I agree on that. I've got it to where it comes off and on...10 minutes tops. But its the pain of bending over and reaching under. I'd rather do it 10 less times a year. Cuz like you say..you leave it on to get loader work done...you will regret it lol.
But there again..some planning of projects helps....doesnt always account for new things that come up...but helps!

But...that bx is a fine mower. And I tell ya...not much slower than a zero turn....and if I'm running in spring or fall..kick it into 4wd...no worries.
Zero turns are like a cork bobbing in water in mud lol

 

My Dad's L3940 loader is a quick detach.. but a lil more involved than my bx. Needless to say..I think its stayed on for like 10 years straight now lol

Yes sir. Down in MA we got a dud. Maybe 4"-5" tops out of this one. Hardly worth taking out the plow.

 

This is the guy I was hoping to get a PM from regarding the 2018 BX23S I "found". 100 hours. not sure if it has the 3 pt arms or not in case the backhoe is removed.

At 21K, it is higher priced now than what it sold for when new!

HoneyFuzz how long is your driveway? Pushing 1000' here. Your "woods" looks like the ground is pretty level....not all humpty dumpty like mine. Clearance is an issue here.

 

Tractors are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Price a new one..and compare it to the used one . My property is mostly gradual elevation changes....some bigger hills . Again..im not flipping over. I avoid the steep ravin back there mostly. Worked over the last decade to make a trail down there that is safe. Everything is about planning ahead...and being a competent operator.
You can go too small..or too big. We all gamble a little and hope for the best.

I'm not gonna tell you something is a good deal or not..cuz its all relative to the area you live in and what machines go for in your neck of the woods...or what you are willing to pay. All I can tell you is I have never regretted buying the BX. There isn't a job I'm not getting done. But that's my situation..not yours . Roll the dice and gamble ! Kubota has great resale value if u made an unwise decision . Its almost a can't lose...much lol

 

Perhaps it might be worth renting the model you are looking at for a day or weekend and see if it will do what you expect it too.

 

It’s definitely dependent on the property and on the task. At times my Kioti NX is too small, like when I loaded the 3,000 lb Pine log on the mill to make two 24’ long beams. Other times it’s too big, like doing around the yard chores. Most times it’s just right. My neighbor has a Mahindra Max which is pretty comparable to a Kubota BX, and he loves it. Like was said buy what works for you.

I also want to add...perception is everything. I remember when I bought my tractor..some folks said geez..10 more grand you could have had an L series ! Or ..you paid alot for a "overgrown garden tractor" lol.

Expensive when I signed the papers. But after 4 years..I ve done soooo much work I never intended to do because of my BX. And I can walk mostly upright cuz I'm not dragging brush...im grappling now. Not wheelbarrowing...im using the loader.

At this point..I think I stole this machine legally from Kubota

That's my perception !

P.s...I dont even know where my wore out wheelbarrow is anymore...never thought I'd say that !!

And that brings up the question that is part of the tractor buying equation. Do you buy the tractor that meets most of your needs..and deal with the once ina while not so good ?
Or buy a big tractor for the once ina while....and too much tractor for the bigger percentage of work that u normally have ?

I'd take the first one . Keep that Kioti working !!!!

 

Good question. I do a lot of logging work on my 21 acres. I also knew clearing my 1000 or so foot driveway was a big priority. I also have several smaller tractors to do yard work. THAT....is the real answer...have multiple options to choose from... lol
