Almost afraid to see what recommending a light material bucket (snow bucket) and reaction it will cause.

Grand L series is kubota's top of the line L. Has stall guard...electronic high low range while mechanically in L..M...H . Auto throttle..all that stuff. Plush seat..tilt wheel etc. My Dad's is a Grand L3940. I just was curious

Well that sure was a lot of good reading and light banter!

My intended purposes for this thing are mowing about 2 acres with a finish mower and not destroying lawn. Getting into the woods and moving some logs around although the woods is pretty young so not much big stuff. there’s 5 acres of scrub field with heavier brush and shrubs so that’ll probably need brush hogging from time to time. I also like the ibc tote(or some sort of moveable storage) idea. I have the room at this property and that would be so nice to move a lot of wood closer to house at once, So loader capacity is a consideration.

I’m not a mechanic however maintenance and smaller mechanical tasks are not an issue, but I’m not cracking apart a tranny. So that’s where buying new with a warranty or at least a low hour late model tractor come into play.

I grew up with Ford 8/9n’s and my dad still has a Ford 2000 I run so I’m used to a gear tractor and that’s probably what I’d buy if it were just me. However, if the wife wants to get on there to mow one day I’m not sure how comfortable she would be.

Anyone with a 25hp hydro find it a bit gutless for what you were trying to do? I’ve run a 25hp mahindra gear and it seemed like a good amount of power, I’m just thinking about that hydro loss, especially for brush hogging 5 acres. I don’t want to spend all day mowing/hogging, although I’m sure my boys wouldn’t mind!

As I said the bx25 I had was a good machine but the weight of it limited what it could do. It didn’t serve my purpose so I replaced it.

The one LS dealer I went by was that way. Sold jet skis, side by sides and tractors. Their “service manager” didn’t give me that warm and fuzzy feeling! They’re pretty far away anyways so there’re a no go. The closer LS dealer is a long time Ford tractor dealer/repair in a large farming area with a good reputation so I feel ok about them.

From what you’re explaining about the 3901/2 differences that does seem like pretty stupid design. I think I’m going to swing by a kubota dealer Saturday so I’ll have to check that out.

Thanks. Obviously that’s what I’m trying to avoid.

Also to those who are mowing with a 2500-3000 pound tractor how does it do on the lawn, tear it up a lot? I’ll most likely get the r4 or if buying new the r14 look interesting. It’s not a golf course or anything and I know you wouldn’t go out there in a monsoon but don’t want huge ruts from the weight. Most of my tractor operating hours have been in sand so there’s no worries there!

I was a a little taken when I saw that’s the “official” description on bobcat’s website.

this is supposed to be 0.66 cubic yard.
    666DBA79-A1EC-4AB9-AA05-3DD31C8B8179.jpeg
this is supposed to go 1.13 cu yd.
    5DE2EFF4-D7C2-4D14-A976-59A3C3B0E5DF.jpeg

    the size difference is big.

12 buckets of split wood vs 6 buckets to fill the trailer in the back.

You guys may want to start new threads. This one kinda veered off..its usually just a show off what your kubota's are doing kinda thread.

Probably get better answers with a new thread .

I use a 24 hp husquvarna 48” lawn mower for those tasks.

    as is pointed out…

“The right tool for the task”.

the mower was less cost than a mower attachment for the skidsteer or a utility tractor.

If I need to haul stuff like gardening, landscaping, saws etc, then it goes on the atv, utility trailer and behind the mower or atv.

and I’ve invested less into my equipment and attachments with higher work capacity. The 2000 773 wasn’t just bought because “that’s what I can afford”. At 2600 hours, it’s barely used. I don’t have a bunch of electronics to control stuff like newer machines and I definitely don’t have the emissions on a new engine. The venerable kubota V2203 is as close to bullet proof as you can get. Since it’s a turbo, it’s rated for 58 hp.

g60gti I thought I was replying to yooperdave

but for you, Kubota lists loader lift on side of loader arms L 545 means will lift 545 kg so multiply by 2.2

Very few machines are going to be able to mow and lift IBC tote of wood

I'd second farmerJ on the $1800 mower from the big box store. You'll not enjoy a loader or any rear implement while mowing with the belly mower and probably won't like doing "tractor" work with the belly mower on. It'll leave you with just inches of ground clearance.
I could see a quick little loader task come up.... and your loader is off because you just mowed the lawn. Then vice versa.
Maybe not in your situation but it's something to think about. Mowing "tight" with a loader is going to involve more maneuvering than you'd imagine.

True. There is an older riding mower there that they may leave behind. If not I have a line on a cheap one. I’m just imagining sitting on that thing for hours on end.
