Today we picked up the last two loads of hickory and oak off the salvage job we did around the first of the year. And made a cord of wood for a customer who's supposed to come on Monday...
I'm not sure what kind of burner the guy has. It's all cut to 15.5" like we normally cut.....I do that because, you know how it goes.... there's always a few pieces that end up over whatever length you're making. 16" seems to be the standard around here, so that's our target length.
Got a nice 24" black walnut off the cedar job.... Hauled 23 trailer loads of the neighbors job..... Got some real nice ones! Piling up....
I'm not sure what we're going to do with the walnut, I may just sell it to the guy I made all the cedar cants for, he's got a kiln and plenty of buyers. If I cut it myself I'm risking losing it to bugs / mold at this time of year, because I don't really have any kind of a climate controlled place to dry it right now.
