I've just always used the magnetic rod that you stick on your bar.

Most guys don't have much trouble cutting wood to the desired length. I don't see the laser as being accurate unless perfectly perpendicular to the wood.

use a mingo marker or stick on rod if you need a gadget.

Or you can just use a tape measure and mark with kid's sidewalk chalk....

It would be something else for me to forget to put batteries in.

Yeah, I don't use anything but my logging tape and either a crayon or chalk for other people. I eyeball all my stuff, but being a builder 16 inches is locked in my eye fairly well. Thought it was interesting what lengths folks will go to.

Especially considering the bar makes a dandy tape measure.

Cheapo tape measure and some upside down paint. Takes very little time and allows me to have a good look at the log, cutting out stuff that will be a pain to split/stack.

Well it's got a "lazer" on it.:rofl:

It would just be one more electrical thing that doesn't work when I'd need it.

I would never use it. Tape and chalk is how I do it. Not to mention it’s 70$.

I saw these a while ago, I'm interested. $70 is a little high. I would think the battery would last quite a while, basically a laser sight for a gun. There whole using the saw bar works, but that's so much extra wasted movement rotating the saw 90°. I would think of you keep the saw level with the log, it should give really consistent spots to cut at.

Tom I think there was a member in the thread about this tool on opeforum who did use a laser gun sight and saved a few bucks. Some googling might turn it up.

I was thinking a 1911 rail and a cheap laser sight would do the same. Then you could also add a weapon light, maybe some BUIS, and a grenade launcher. Lol

I like it just mount the 1911 to the saw and you have a dual purpose home defense “tool”

    That's what I use. The 16" model.

I sprung for the adjustable model but use it at 16” mostly.
