Hi, I was thinking about one of these for husband for Father's Day. Everything (most) that he cooks/deep fries is delicious but he uses a new pot of oil every time $. When I was little parents had a Fry Daddy they kept oil in after use, is this still the case regarding reusing oil?

Not sure if it's "normal" now a days. Probably illegal in same states to deep fry anything.

All joking aside. My parents and grandparents all had deep fryers/fry daddys with used oil in them. Only changed when you could tell a difference in taste. I can't imagine oil is much different now.

Yes, keep using the old oil until it transfers taste to new food, like Jeffrey said. That can get expensive real quick changing oil after every use.
Can you imagine doing that after getting home from work every day on your car?

I have one. You have to change the oil enough that is kind of a pita.

  no doubt on illegal some places!

TBH, him switching oils between other foods and seafood will be A LOT less expensive, seafood is really pricy out here, and only frozen, none fresh, and he likes to do his scallops and rubberized shrimp in a pan anyway :) . Anyway between you all and me, it may be a win/win :)

Hot oil is not the way to go....for dinner or murder. Perhaps a demonstration of the one or two button technique of the air fryer is called for.

Air fryer. You get almost the same effect. It's definitely healthier and less messy/ hassle.

I mean there are things either machine can and can't do.

Other than this odd item called " deep fryed pancakes" the air fryer is your go to appliance. Is that what is hillbilly Ohioans call fry pies?

Idk, he used to insist on BFG tires and I didn't mind, and I insisted on Estee Lauder foundation and Aveda hair gel. I make pancakes and french toast/scrambled eggs/hashed browns with pats of butter opposed to him practically deep frying them. Idk, after 30 years of showing him/acclimating him he goes back to the way he was taught, as do I. I was just trying to save a few bucks on all the oil he goes through, not change him.

Can't change men. Do you know who you're talking to? If he's cooking as much as you indicate....give him what he wants plus a kiss on the cheek

We deep fry a lot around here.
We have separate jugs of oil for different things. When done using you just strain it and put back in jug.
