We had to put our 14-1/2 year old German Shorthair Millie to sleep yesterday. What a great companion and bird finder she was. Also just a sweetheart and loved everyone she met. Our hearts are pretty broken right now. She had been battling Arthritis and Degenerative Disc Disease along with Cataracts for the last year or more and no amount of meds would slow down the progression of the disease. So just a small tribute to my best buddy. We enjoyed many good years together on our annual trips to the Northwoods of WI hunting Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock. She found, pointed and held birds far better than I could down them. She held up her part of the partnership exceptionally well! Millie, hope you’re finding lots of game birds in Doggie Heaven
I wish I had some words for you that makes it better. There are none but I'm thinking about you and her, and she's not hurting any more.
RIP Millie, know that you had a good life here on earth, many pets are envious, and your humans will miss you and talk about your great traits for decades to come
So sorry to hear this. Losing a beloved family dog is the absolute worst thing to deal with. RIP Millie
Deepest condolences brother. It’s never easy letting our closest companions and family members go. You’re not walking this path alone.
Amen. Our beastie is so part of our family. She's firmly bonded to me, always happy to see me whenever I get in (none of this roll over and go back to sleep stuff), so attentive, dependent, and as loving as any animal can be. I walk with you in your loss JD Guy. I'll be there again someday. And it will result in a day off from other activities. What ceremonies or goings on do you have planned?
Sorry for your loss JD Guy Amazing how many here have lost a good companion. Try to keep remembering the good times you had.
Sorry for your loss brother...he is a beautiful pup and will definitely be waiting for you guys at the other end of the rainbow bridge when the time comes!
Condolences for the loss of your sweet companion. Please take comfort in knowing you gave her a great life and let her go with dignity when the pain became too great.
Sorry to read this , keep all the good times you had together at the top of the list. Never an easy decision but you did the right thing. RIP Millie.
Sorry it was Millie's time, JD Guy... sounds as though you have many happy memories to get you through. Losing our best buds is never easy.
