Soft maple

    Whacked up a few rounds of soft maple near the house. Not my favorite, but it splits well. All of those rounds made up

    It’s all heat. I wish I had a cord or two of low btu stacked for those warmer days.

    I’ve only had one maple score and you folks said it was silver. I’d take more of it in a heartbeat if’n I get a chance

    Soft maple burns just fine in my opinion, dries quick in the stacks and fits the bill for shoulder season burns. I like the stuff.

    Soft maple is good. I like easy splitting, lights off fast and even leaves coals.

    I've been burning shoulder wood during the day, mostly RM.

    It works fine for keeping the place warm.

    Red oak for the overnight burns.

    Soft maple is one of the most underrated woods IMO. Grows fast just about anywhere, cuts and splits easy, dries fast, lights up easily, not too messy of bark, leaves decent coals. Only real cons lower btu, and will rot if left in rounds.
