Hey WW! We are currently at 2 degrees. We got about a foot of snow over the last 24 hours. You get any precip out of this southern churner? The news said Purgatory and Telluride have gotten about 35 inches in the last 24 hours! I’m tempted to throw my snowboard in the truck and head down there
I started a small fire last night but just let it go out. This morning I see the forecast and again, it makes me wonder what idiots are running the show. They just predicted the high for today of 31 degrees. That I guess is okay but we are at 36 degrees already. How can you predict a high temperature that is lower than the present?
Must be that new math I hear about. 50 going to 60 with rain. Started a hot fire with pine and oak to take chill off
40 and dumping rain. High of 57 today and low of 25 tonight. Typical IN weather for this time of year (spring and winter in the same day). I turned the boiler off last night to save my coal bed. I'll light it back up this evening.
Been awhile, hope all are well. It's a pleasant -7 C here, and we had some large maple chunks in over night. This being my first winter burning I have not been burning constantly, trying to stretch my dry wood (barely over 1/2 a cord) over the winter. Now that we're over halfway through I might have been too conservative, probably could have burned more. What feels great is knowing I have almost 2 cords stacked and drying for next year so I can burn to my heart's content. This spring hopefully I'll get up to a 3 year stack.
64° at the moment with rain coming later this afternoon. The stove has been idle since Tuesday evening and won't see any action until Saturday morning. Although this warm spell has been pleasant, I'm looking forward to the more "seasonal" weather next week.
Got off work a little early, home by 3:30 to 64 inside temp. So I lit up with splitter scraps on top of 2 splits oak, 1 walnut & 1 mulberry. There was a pine cookie in there too. 51 out with rain.
17f currently after getting 9" snow today. Talking 7f tonight, 30f tomorrow and 40's this weekend going into next week.
Dropping below freezing tonight, after several mild days. Went out at halftime of watching #2 Indiana lady’s dismantle #12 Michigan, to stuff the dragon with beech and maple. will need to do some splitting again. Pretty wet the past couple days so it won’t be pretty
63f right now. Going to be 65 in the morning. Threw a few tiny maple branch rounds a small split of doaty oak and a bit larger 3" round maple . Trying to keep the coals for a little load in the morning as it will be in the 50s tomorrow.
We're back in teens this morning. One more to go then it warms up again, only not quite as warm. We set some record highs this week.
