just drove through that area as it was happening last week.

we didn’t think anything about it as I was on 271/90 on the NE side of Cleveland. To East Palestine, it was still 65 miles.

    This is messed up.

I'm 30 miles north. So my water will be ok and the prevailing wind blew it away from me/us mostly.
The chickens that died is only 15~ miles away.
I have been looking to relocate out of state for last yearish. If I was in that watershed it would be the final nail.

As I understand it, the now toxic Ohio River, flows downstream ~900 miles before becoming the Mississippi.

If truly toxic, there'll be fish kill + whatever, down to New Orleans.

I truly hope my understanding is wrong.

Correct...I think the hope is that things will be diluted so much that its not a huge problem...there is an old saying among the EPA types "dilution is the solution to pollution"...and while that works for some things, as I understand it these chemicals never go away, and are REALLY bad actors!

Just read an article stating FEMA told Dewine that Ohio is not eligible for assistance at this time.
    What's it gonna take???

the 50's called and they want their dewine back.. He can do a lot more than he is . One fire the National guard commander and have him arrested for assault.
Send more Guard there to help with the clean up., They have NBC suits.
He can sue the feds and NS to reclaim the money instead of relying on the feds..

Buttjudge blamed Trump for this. It’s typical pass the buck tactics right now with this pantchitter in chief and crew. Just step up and help these people! They want the RR to pay but that’s a lawsuit that will take years, just like Montreal Maine Atlantic wreck in Lac-Megantic Quebec.

Exactly my thoughts. Whatever gets washed into a city storm drain in say, Pittsburg PA eventually floats through the muddy river delta into the sunny Gulf of Mexico. The Mississippi River watershed is humongous. Any watershed is if you think about it. I know the storm water that runs through my own backyard makes it’s way into a small brook at the bottom of my road, which flows into a 30 foot wide river a mile away, then into a 50 foot wide river several miles downstream, eventually dumping into the Connecticut River, then continues on to Long Island Sound. It’s all one giant connected network, picking up everything from everywhere and sending it to the sea.

Maybe if East Palestine started self-identifying as Eastern Europe they’d get some help.

Don't know what media you're watching but NBC has had it as one of their top 3 stories in the 6:30 news since it happened.

It's a 1 hr drive south. It is pretty close to my Ag/truck tire guy, Horst tire (top left of screen shot).

My buddy who owns an oil company (my tote supplier) had 3 delivery trucks down there to get painted. They all three suffered damage.

ETA: Our farm property has a swamp where part of the run off breaks towards the Grand River feeding Lake Erie, and the side breaks towards the Pymatuning Valley which is a tributary to the Ohio River.

Its weird that you're in the exact spot where some of the water goes north to Lake Erie and some heads south to Ohio River. Everything by me heads to Lake Erie.
At least that means you're north of the damage and your home shouldn't be affected by it.

My personal residence is well into the Grand River watershed, the farm is on the border of it and the Shenango watershed. Well north of anything to do with this disaster.

    Grand River Watershed:

Maybe I’m being paranoid but waking up to see this on the cars was unsettling. It’s definitely not pollen. The wife texted me and is saying it's all over Fascistbook, people reporting particulate coating their cars.
