Timber and Hayden are getting along very well. Danielle said that Hayden started realizing that it's not play time 24/7. This afternoon Hayden and Timber were laying on the kitchen floor near each other. I'm sure my wife got pictures. I'll see if I can get some uploaded here.

I think. But I was told that Timber whined at the door when she heard the garage door open when I got home. So she missed me all day. Hayden isn't ready up to give up Mom as being claimed though.

Timber is a very smart dog. She's already getting our schedules and system down. Apparently her recall wasn't that good before, but this was according to John and he only had her 2 weeks, with no fenced yard. He didn't give her any opportunity to take off. He did walk her 5 miles a day though. Apparently she also likes to chase critters. She responds to me whistling to call her back in when she's around the corner of the house and you can't see her green the patio. She comes hauling back when I whistle for her.

Horkn don’t get too frustrated if this Goldilocks time ends for a while. Most rescues tend to have a great start before a trial phase when the test you; because they have been hurt before

That's really good to hear. Just a few days ago Roscoe tore off around our house after a cat, towards the road we live on. I yelled/screamed and he put the brakes on immediately. Kinda scared me there for a minute as I didn't have his collar remote in my hand. Sounds like you guys are having a great start. Is she possessive of food/treats at all?

Oh, we won't. Did find out today that previous owner (s) didn't get her fixed. No issues, but that just reinforced my logic to keep one in a crate while we are gone, and overnight. Hayden gets fixed in 9 days. He's had no interest in any of that anyway.

We'll just need to get her fixed too shortly. Part of a free dog I suppose. She's really loving being in a home that loves her, with a companion dog.

Oh, fuelrod that white stuff is going to fall again from the sky tomorrow. Supposedly. 5-8" plus maybe some lake effect snow to add.

We just got a good test, two deer were just outside of our fence and our pups were in the corner of the land closest to the deer. The deer ran away, dogs got a little excited but no barking or attempting to go after them, probably because they know the fence wasn't going to let them try anything stupid. Hayden has seen enough deer that it didn't cause much of a stir. She probably fed off of his vibes. Watch, but that's all that's going to happen.

She is not possessive of food, or water or treats.

Our labs have stayed with Mom in bed when she was sick. This one is food motivated. Toys are not big to her though. She is starting to fetch a little though when playing outside.

Also, now more and more I don't see any shepherd in her. I'm thinking black mouth cur / husky. Husky blue eyes , ears and tail, Cur chest coloration, main color, face markings and ears. I haven't seen that color and white chest in a shepherd. Black Mouth Cur 101 Breed Profile: What You NEED To Know!

So I didn't want to say anything when I saw the pictures, especially since nature can do funny tricks with crossbreeds. But, I was actually thinking that I saw little husky in there - just the curl of the tail. But I didn't realize that her eyes were blue, so that makes a sense.

Maybe some Shepard (just because of facial markings). But she seems to have too broad and short a snout for either of those breeds (for a female anyway). And her body is also too blocky for just those two breeds. The only explanation I could come up with was she is a large percentage of another bread (or a true Heinz).

It looks like you may have hit it on the nose - if a parent was black mouthed cur (probably an unknown dad) and the other was husky/shepherd (most likely the mother), then I could see the results looking very much like her.

Hard to say, but I just see cur and husky. Once you see it, you can't unsee it with the cur.

She protested getting in the crate in our room last night, but once in she was totally fine. Hayden got to sleep on the bed with us again. We'll have to do some kennel flip flopping with Hayden's surgery next Friday
