The stock muffler on my 460 only has a tiny hole for the exhaust. I was going to modify it but then I discovered Stihl offered a dual port muffler. Along with a multitude of available aftermarket ones with different ports.
What one is the best choice ?
The saw is on the schedule for some extra sausage.
As always thanks in advance for your help
    Keith

Kevin puts an extra hole in it and it looks semi professional. Jk he did a really nice job adding an extra port on my 400.

I'm on the list but it's 4 months out.
Gonna bug the crap out of me till then.
It's just, to me at least comically small, like they put the pilot hole in and went to lunch.

I'm willing to wait my turn. I know all to well how insertions can trainwreck a schedule.

Yeah I can do that, I don't really need to even use the saw.

Just about anything is better than the stock "MS460Z" muffler.

Gonna hold my nose and post this link: (had to dust off the time machine for this one!)

This is the one on my 241 that went to the sausage factory.

Factory outlet is on the chain side.

Kevin did my 036 and added the second port in a most professional manner.

You can tell when someone actually cares about what they do. And Kevin does.

Get the muffler with the largest opening but will keep the spark arrestor in place.

Here is one I did on my MS460

One thing to keep in mind about muffler mods. USFS screen is allowed to have a maximum .023” gap between the wires. It flows about 30%. You’ll notice that the screens are always set back a ways from the hole that they feed. No sense making a hole larger than 1/3 the size of the screen, if you’re keeping the screen in place
