We got some rain late last night, probably close to an inch in total. We needed it, been a dry 3-4 weeks here. Grass is burning, leaves are falling. Took the dogs for a walk by the resevoir 2 days ago and the lower dam had stopped flowing, the water level was down nearly 6 inches. I'm sure the animals that depend on the water from that tributary have been forced to the resevoir itself. Calling for mid-80's and high humidity this week.

It had been pretty wet here too but seemed to dry up quick over the past several weeks. We burned a pile 2 weeks ago and appeared to be out when 3 days later I noticed a little smoke. Sure enough it was smoldering below ground-out came the pick and alot of water. This pile will wait until we have more steady rain-we make the burn piles in areas that generally stay pretty wet.

We caught part of that system as well.... There was a particularly strong cell that passed north of us and caused a tornado warning last night and a flood warning (apparently Worcester had a small tornado) but we just clipped the edge of it. It rained but not hard. We could use more.

For labor day Im going to labor some more at the painting...

We got a decent amount of needed rain here in South Jersey.

Gonna have Mom over for some international flavors - grilled country style ribs … black bean caribbean salad … hummus … sautéed sauerkraut *Moms* … some New York cheddar … ice cream and cantaloupe. No work today other than prepping in the kitchen.

We got almost nothing as the storms passed by. About 30 seconds of a moderate rain. My wife was 10 miles away and they got hammered.

We got hammered here! Had a nasty cell with strong winds and rain come through early then a heavy downpour after midnight. I'm happy we got it though, things round here were drying up fast.

My back is aching after helping a friend replace some rotten plywood on his roof yesterday. We got it patched, waterproofed and tarped just in time . So today im just hangin with baby piney and working on some projects inside. You can cut the humidity outside with a knife!

The headlight. Now...wait. With my older model I have to pull back the inner wheel liner, slide my hand in, and change the thing blind. Ok, kinda not hard. More of a pain in the butt. The online videos made it look easier than it was. I did it myself though!

Well the rain had been staying south of us until last night. Got about a inch in less than a hour. Warm and sticky outside by our standards this morning.

Just finished up yesterday's project, 2 new adirondak chairs for the firepit. Cost me less than $30 per chair and they don't look too bad either.
Now my wife says she wants 3 more. I asked her why 3 And not 2? She says she doesn't like even numbers. :)

We have a Special Weather Statement on for our area, I'm hoping it stays north or south of us.
STRONG THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING...
STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE
EARLY EVENING HOURS AS A COLD FRONT MOVES INTO THE REGION. WHILE
WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED...BRIEF STRONG GUSTY
WINDS AND SMALL HAIL WILL BE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY FROM THE
NORTHERN ADIRONDACKS EASTWARD INTO VERMONT. AT THIS TIME THE
HIGHEST THREAT OF STRONGER STORMS APPEARS TO BE FROM ESSEX COUNTY
NY EAST ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN VERMONT IN THE 4 PM TO 8 PM
TIME FRAME. THOSE WITH RECREATIONAL PLANS OR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
OUTDOORS LATER TODAY AND THIS EVENING SHOULD BE AWARE OF THE
POSSIBILITY FOR STRONGER STORMS AND THE ASSOCIATED THREATS OF
    LIGHTNING.

I think it's Friday or Saturday that we'll have another cold front meeting some warm air from the gulf.

My wife is going to be in the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade. She got a job working on a balloon crew holding a guide rope. She is quite excited as could rightly be expected. But now I will have to take the kids there early enough to get a place on the sidewalk to see her. Aargh.

    Busy last few days...

Joey I think may be starting to get a cold as he woke up in a tantrum a couple times last night... no other symptoms yet which is good since today was orientation day at the twins new Preschool! Last night Catherine's mom watched the kids while we went to the parents meeting and today I took the day off to go with her and the twins to their first day.

They where so excited as we left they where both yelling "yay school" ... hope they do well next week for the real first day without us.

After we took them out for lunch to get pizza.

After finishing some stuff for work, mowing, dinner and getting the kids to bed I finished the Bostich rebuild project. I gave Dads old gun the full treatment - full clean and lube, new trigger valve, full o-rings rebuild kit, new air fitting, filed the grips of the safety tip, wrapped the old worn grip with electricians rubber tape and even gave the end cap a quick spray of Rustoleum satin black. Might not look brand new but it works like new.

Another interesting photo I caught today.... the flowers my wife keeps all around the back door become quite the bee habitat this time of year. Usually we get bumblebees but this year this one particularly has been popular with the bumblebees and the honeybees. It grew so big the gate brushes it as you come and go which stirrs them all up, so we had to cut it back a bit.

    2014-09-04 17.29.17.jpg

The bees are not aggressive and interesting to watch as the bumbles will stick it out into October and when you come out early on cold morning they are acting all lethargic like they where drunk or somethin...

I like watching the lethargic bees. They are all over the flowers here too. But our sedum doesn't have that red color yet. I see that you don't have deer eating right up to your doorsteps there. Hostas are the first thing they munch here, down to the ground. I kept 2 thus year by fully enclosing them in a garden fence cage, with a top cover. They also got into the sedum which as I recall hasn't happened before.
