Firewood season was postponed this year due to home renovations and then endless rain. Finally, a nice day and got my boys out for some firewood therapy. We skidded the trees up from the creek last year, now we are dragging them to the splitter for processing. We got a cord stacked today. Not too bad considering we also had to replace a section of fence that a branch took out.

I think in the future I am going to put the stacks in this area. Even with all that rain I can still get my tractor out here to bring wood to the house in winter. Currently the stacks are a couple hundred yards closer to the house. We are still getting the system figured out at this place.

Yeah, stack further if you have to in order to make things easier.

Man, those trees just don't grow straight there, eh.

Great that you are back to wooding again. Looks like a nice spot for wood storage. Level with lots of sun exposure.

I see what you mean about the trees there...lack of straightness!

Looks like it was a good day.

Also looks like plenty of room for a wood hoard to be piled in that area.

I'm jealous of all the straight wood and pretty stacks I see here on the forum. There is a lot of wood here but very little is straight! I have Blue Oaks and Live Oaks and some Digger Pines.

Looks like a great time! Nice equipment too. I’m so confused by green grass and t-shirts in pics. We have FEET of snow here. It’s currently -5 f degrees here.

How you liking the Massey? What model?
I seriously considered buying the 1740m a couple years ago but the dealer was too far

Got a bunch of dead Blue Oak and Manzanita cut up over the weekend. It was so much fun cutting and cutting and cutting some more. I usually cut a little, split a little, stack a little so this was an enjoyable change of pace. Unfortunately I went through six gallons of Husky fuel premix in a can. If I had planned it better, I would have mixed my own and just ran the last tank with the expensive pre mixed stuff. That 440 drinks!

Thats an expensive drinking problem. Maybe the 440 should start going to meetings!
I seldom go through two tanks in a cutting session. Looks like a fun time was had! :saw:

The vibrations really did a number on my hands. Feeling it today. How much better is the antivibe on today's saws anyway?

Good question. The Ms440 was last mfd. in 2011 so its anti-vibe is not that old. Dont know much of how much better they have improved it.

Ive noticed that in the last couple years, im getting "old man hands". Kinda twisted and crooked fingers, swollen knuckles etc. I have trigger finger in a few of them too! :picard: :BrianK:

    That’s what I was thinking!:coldone:
I haven’t burned 2 gallons in one day ever. Not even felling big cottonwoods all day with a 372 wearing a 36” bar

I've found gripping a very hot coffee cup helps loosen up the fingers. Haven't found a fix for my mauling/tennis elbows. Have noticed my 372XP doesn't bother my hands as much as my 460 ranchers.

Older loggers who ran a chainsaw every day would end up with what they call "White finger" Nerve ends were damaged so any kind of cold is extreme hard to bear.

    What Causes Vibration White Finger?

My fingers are better today, still a little sore. I'm starting to get arthritis in my hands. Getting old sucks. The 6gal covered an hour Friday after work, Saturday and Sunday. It was amazing! It's been years since I cut so much.

The 372 is a smoother saw, no doubt. Similar antivibe to my 346. If I ever win the lottery a ported 372 would be my first purchase.
