Jay, Last couple of winters I have been burning Spruce Pointe. There are other softwood pellet brands around here that I have had my eye on, but the pricing is a bit higher than what I am willing to spend for them.
How were last years Spruce Pointes? I hear some had issues? I didnt buy any last years, still sitting on some from 2 years ago.
Did you try the La Crete's Yet? I can get em cheaper then Okies or Sprucies and I like em a whole lot! North country are also supposed to be good and they may have a price break too? I gotta thank Gbreda for that tip! Looking for some to do a review! Stuck burning hardwoods cause its all I can afford over here!
hey gbreda! I have had pretty good luck with the Sprucies so far. On year 3 with em. If the price stays reasonable I will probably get em again next year.
Have not tried La Cretes yet. Actually, I don't even recall anyone in my area with them. I liked the Oakies but seems the high demand drove their price up over $300 a ton. No way am I paying that.
I used Sprucies for 3 seasons, then the price went up and I tried MSP soft last year. Not bad but not great either. My pellet dealer still carries the Spruce but since the price increases, a possible bad lot last year and transport damage being higher than he would like, he doesnt sell as much of them any more. He tried the North Countries last year and man they were a home run in price point and performance. After trying some last year, I grabbed 3.6 ton this year at 265/ton. We will see if the quality kept up.
yep when the price goes too high it is time to find another brand. my stoves are not picky at all but I prefer the softies for hotter and cleaner burn. I have not seen the North Countries around here but will keep an eye out for em.
