Dead black locust tough on a used chain

    This is how you stripped those teeth off that chain. Nothing wrong with that until it starts cutting cursive.

    I like Stihl semi-chisel chain in some of the nastier woods to cut. Especially with thick, textured bark that holds a bunch of grit. With that kind of a job, I usually win the race in the pits. ;)

    That chain has been bagged, marked as such and demoted. Maybe another one time disposable cut. The 20" .375 chain i was using today had little tiny triangles left for teeth. I even field sharpened twice.
    Guess i get my moneys worth.

    Me too. :salute: Several of my cutters were worn back to the witness marks. Now it's a stumping chain. :thumbs:

    I think i might have you beat. The witness marks are gone on mine! I dulled this one and the back up chain had the drives links dinged as it was thrown at the last cut with it. Had to field sharpen this one twice. :hair:I have a couple NIB that will get put into service. IMG_2493.JPG

    Used the 201 rear handle (14" bar) with a newer chain yesterday bucking long barkless BL smalls yesterday. Noticed a couple missing teeth. :picard: IMG_2564.JPG View attachment 369999
