In this case, I did not clip it. Just knocked off what loose ash there was and went to town.

I have clipped on other occasions but for the most part do not clip. I haven't found one way or another is better IMO. Personally, I think it has to do with how much of the cigar has been smoked before the relight. Just think of all that tobacco that hasn't been lit yet is acting more like a filter when you draw on the cigar.

I've only re-lit a handful of cigars, but I didn't really notice any difference when I clipped off the ash either. Then again, my palate isn't one to pick up a dozen flavor profiles with every cigar either.

That was a good smoke. Last 3rd, the construction started falling apart, but a nice and smooth smoke, with just a bit of spice. Not a strong cigar......... definitely a good daytime smoke.

Had another Rocky Patel today. Another very good cigar. Smooth, great taste, great construction. Definitely will be buying a box of these. So far, Rocky Patel is 100%, from the couple I've had.

Here's today's delivery. I'm really liking the Legends. Figured I'd try some more Oliva's since I liked the Serie V.

The unlit aroma of legends blacks remind me of tea.

So I had a Rocky Patel Vintage 1990. The cigar was good and I really like the box press concept. However, my cheap cutter went haywire and tore the cap and then made the wrapper go wonky. So it was a bit of an ordeal making it smoke decent, but I really liked the taste and flavor. That cutter will be getting replaced.
