Loving that splitter! Just can't justify the cost. I was visiting one of the local firewood dealers last week and they had one.
Some of the rounds that are from the larger logs (that won't go through the processor) end up getting cut small and sent through the DR, kinda cool to watch.

It sure can. I have 10 foot long 2x4 across to give it the support I need. I should be fine. Thanks though...

It was pricey but the dr website offers no interest for 1 year check it out. Works like a charm.

I was so on the fence with them before I bought my hydraulic splitter.
I went to visit a local dealer and everything. The part that killed it was
vertical splitting. Some of the rounds I get are well over 20" in dia and the
extra work involved with getting them on a DR table wasn't worth it to me.
Not to mention I paid less than $875 for a 20 ton hydraulic new.

The logs I can't pick up by hand I usually run the saw straight down the middle

Unless something spontaneous comes up, I usually spend the month of March and some of April
cutting, splitting and stacking. Occasionally an odd scrounge will show up and I'll jump on that but
for the most part that my routine. When the wood used for this winter gets used the new CSS goes on
    the stacks.

I usually CSS all year round if the wood is there like it has been this year. Thank god. I really look for it during the spring fall and winter seasons. Love working in cool weather....

I agree, the winter is a nice time to work but I prefer the spring when I need to get the cabin fever crap out of me. Last Feb. I was fortunate to get a 6 cord scrounge on a builders lot. I had to cut 6 cord and haul it out in 6 days, it nearly killed me. My driveway looks like a hurricane hit, logs everywhere!

Welcome to the club. Nice bunch of folks here. It's like a support group. Hi my name is Shawn and I'm a firewood hoarder!

Nice shed. Nice wood splitter too. I have the same one - paid $45 for mine. The axe I mean :axe::D

To rotate vertical pics I have to send them to my computer. Then you can right click the file and choose rotate clockwise.

NYCountry, I like the woodshed mostly because of its simplicity but also because it is so open which will allow for the best air circulation. Should the roof show signs it needs more support, then you can add it but I doubt you get that much heavy wet snow all at once and if so, you can always get the snow off before it starts melting or piling up.

Good point Dennis about the snow.
The 1st winter after I built mine, I went out with the roof rake more than once to pull snow off the shed roof.
That was the winter of '10-11. Haven't done it since, but that 1st winter had me jittery.:hair:
