You got a Stihl trimmer from Home Depot?

I'll be dead and ashes sprinkled on my land before there is a better saw than can replace that 241 in any way, shape or form

If I were to get one it would be an 18 volt Milwaukee one hand little saw. It would be very handy. I have all Milwaukee 18 volt tools so batteries are a plenty.

    I saw that too. Lol.

I used to run grape in Coleman fuel with 25:1 oil in my large scale RC cars.

what's dirtier? crude oil extraction or lithium ore extraction processing and the other minerals such as cobalt mined by kids and fueling coups in DRC.
I'll stick with my cleaner fossil fuel and the smell. Great that it works for you. But the holier than though rightousness of
"green energy" can go cut a widow maker.

Agree. Personally, I didn't get, nor do I like my saw for that reason. I got it and like it for the other reasons I stated.

I tried the top handle version right after it came out. Was into it for around 1200 for the saw 2 batteries and charger. Tried it on one job and sold it to another sucker…. Errr… I mean arborists. He seems happy with it. I think they have since come down in price some now.

having said that I do have a small makita top handle saw and power pole saw that I really like.

That's the big issue for anyone doing more than arborist work or yard maintenance. Its not about performance. Electric can easily outperform gas. We see it in the automotive world. Heck, brushless RC cars almost killed the nitro RC market because they are so fast. The brushless motor and lithium battery revolutionized battery powered RC and power tools. As far as vs gas, they still have short run times compared to gas. The flip side is you can refill a nitro or gas rig and keep rolling while your battery unit is waiting on batteries to charge and they always take way way longer to charge than the run time you get from them. Same thing with a battery saw. Currently, short of wearing a big $$$$ backpack battery to power your battery hand held, I see no viable option presently to compete with gas run times in the ope world. And what saw operator wants an umbilical cord running to a saw.

I thought you had one but wasn't sure. For some reason I thought you liked it.

I've got a gas Stihl 271, Stihl 170 MSE (corded electric) and a Ryobi 18V 10 inch bar- 8 inch usable. I like and use all of them.

I don't totally care about what powers the saw, more about how sharp the chain is- but each saw has its own place. Being on a very small lot I tend to like to use the corded saw more. Don't have mix gas & oil, quiet to use, light weight. I personally find there to be a number of advantages. The battery saw in my situation is nice to take camping, or in a rare occasion to cut down a split that for some reason got past the quality control supervisor when I was stacking but otherwise it isn't a go to of mine.
All that being said, I wouldn't knock them. I'm not a heavy use guy in the first place, but by all means- take all the same precautions using a battery saw as you would any other saw. Nothing to fool with.
