Yeah, raining here now and has been all afternoon/evening. I think we're sending it your way as snow. Sorry? The mud is beyond annoying at this point.
I was wooding most of the afternoon. Just overcast. Hand split about 1/3 of yesterday's score here. Assembled bundles for an order and delivered at dusk. It was just starting to sprinkle. Raining pretty good now. I can hear it on the skylights even with the tv on.
Maybe some slush tomorrow in Southern CT. Another rain day and its driving me nuts! I wanna make firewood!
That's good to hear. My daughter in Ithaca is getting white stuff. Up to 15" predicted I believe. At this point, I wish the ground would freeze.
I've lost track of mine now...neighbor bought it, his kid wrecked it in 2 weeks, he fixed it and kept it a few years then sold it...later on I just happened to see it for sale at a small town car lot about 45 minutes from here...bunch of rednex around there, it probably got "customized" off roaded, and trashed.
I had oner of those for a first car, it weas the first car my parents ever bought new (for them, not me). It was my first engine rebuild, first full respray... it now rots behind my dads barn, with the price of them, maybe it is time to do a restoration. I did love that little truck. .....oh, and those are some beautiful boards you have going there!
Bumping this old thread to show progress. My BIL Adam built a bar and used the black gum for a top and more. He’s not done yet as they want a totally smooth finish. Looks really good IMO. I didn’t get great pics but the live edges have worm holes and stuff.
Not for anything but that came out sweet. I even like some of the saw marks that remain. I imagine not that easy to get it smooth without a boatload of extra work...unless you have a commercial thickness planer at your disposal.
He wanted some saw marks to remain for the rustic look. Now they just have to get the clear topcoat smooth. I believe another pour or two of whatever it was they used is scheduled.
