I've gotten decent at repairing these old plastics. Best filler I've found is the factory material. Going to try and fix the old tank that came with this saw and if it works out will probably pass it on to someone who needs it. It has a crack that someone epoxied over. Someday when I have time I'll dig the epoxy off and weld it up.
I'm building a custom muffler from scratch. I have the original muffler but being how HTF they are, I wanna leave it stock and just build a tri-port of my own design, with interna flow channels. I've made up the patterns, just gotta plasma cut them out in my shop and form/weld it together. I'll post it up when I do the work. Also going to make several custom bucking spikes for various builds.
I was just gonna build a "whatever" saw out of this one, being how hard parts are to find, but I started gathering up some nice parts so it led to more than I had originally hoped for. I may even send it to Glock37 for powder coating down the road.
Not that it isn’t a high price but he may get it or close for a collection, haven’t made a new one in years and they were all production saws for the most part and rode hard .
Not sure yet. Has the manual valve but may have been switched out. But has the oem rubber nipple and clip over pulse hole so probably original. Didn't realize they had deleted the auto decomp later. Most people did it anyway because of leaks.
Nope but I asked. Apparently the son in law is going to inherit the hoard. His boy is not interested. Mint, maybe never gassed 371, 272, 288, 268, 258?, all the stihls, buried huskies I can’t get to to look at. How could someone not be interested. At eBay prices it’s worth millions. What’s the big Dolmar? He’s got a new one. 084 new. They are all on the top shelf where they can’t be touched and covered with blankets.
I just got an 024 super to fix for a guy because he had a couple kids from the local forestry class come to help cut some dead balsam and even though they claimed they knew how to run a saw they didn’t apparently. They started them to warm them up and he didn’t take it off high idle with the brake on and now it won’t run. He called me up saying my wife’s pizzed because I let a kid use her old saw that her dad bought her and now it won’t run so that’s what’s next. I’ll snap a pic or two it’s really nice, told him if the cylinder is bad it may end up and 026 because I don’t think I have any super cylinders and refuse to use aftermarket.
already have it running again, going to pressure and vac test seals but they look like they’ve been changed already. It will need a new drum bearing a good used clutch drum and clutch, the melted cover getting replaced . Then I’ll give it a good muffler mod and advance the timing a touch. Pressure and vac test and send home.
Had the 090 on the bench today (minus the bar because the bench isn't long enough) Quite a saw. I need to dress the square tooth chipper chain when I get time.
Welp, looks like I'm building another 200T! Just picked this one up this evening, it took a ride out of a tree..... Also picked up a Husky 435 parts saw for 25 bucks off the same seller.... I got a problem....lmao....
