We went back to the church yesterday, we got the oak and cut the hickory stump off for them... The Stihl is getting it done... As I drove the wedges in to give me a little lift, the 2 sections came apart... MS461 with 28" bar Then decided we cut get another cut closer to the ground... Getting a bite of a hickory cookie Makes a small shadow Much mo better now... Got it on the trailer with the rest of the score...
Looks good, I would love to get my hands on some hickory for the mill, but not something usually found around these parts.
Cutting a big stump can be a PITA as you never know whats lurking in there...dirt, rocks etc. I remember when i first used my 460 to cut a big stump with a 28" bar and WOW, sure beats a 290 with a 16" bar. Great job getting it done Jeff. This one came to mind. NOT MY CUTTTING. Big silver maple with steel bar "hiding" inside.
Nothing at all, but it wont cut off a lot of stumps. Never having used anything but a saw with a 16" bar, it was not easy to use a 28" bar the first several times. Took some getting used to. I felt like Paul Bunion when i did! . 16 & 20" bars the norm when i go cutting with two saws. If im cutting bigger wood, a 25 or 28" bar on the bigger saw.
Hey, don't be picking on the mighty MS180......... It wasn't hongry for hickory, stihl full on cherry, might give it mixing those 2 woods...
