Where do you still get the match books to align the tape for better sound?

Aw heck! If I saved those 8 tracks all these years, and saving a matchbook or two would be no problem at all!

I think anyone that owned one of those players has shimmed up the tape cartridge at some point, right? :D :handshake:

I searched for Molly Hatchet on pandora earlier this week. Forgot I’d had that “station” already saved…

    gotta say…

there’s just something about Southern fried rock.

No clue here. My former PU (2001 bought new) had only a cassette player and i rigged up my walkman CD player to play CD's. PITA as a bump would mess it up. I never converted to newer ways of listening. Im the type who wants to hit an on/off switch to make stuff work.

Sometimes ill turn the radio on in the current truck and flip through rock stations. At home i use the netbook. Our 2011 car is like driving a friggin computer. I hate it. When, and if i replace this truck, ill buy a nice "old fashioned" used one.

Oh boy, i sound like dad did 30 years ago. :picard: He hated technology.

My current truck has a cassette player which I never use. I only listen to talk radio when I'm driving and it drives my daughter nuts when she's with me.
Oh yeah, it's on the AM station too.

All the more reason to subscribe to a streaming service so you can get more away from the mainstream.

Of it's a super short trip, that's what I do, unless I'm in a mood for something in particular. My phone is ready to stream whatever 80 bazillion songs on my paid service, which used to be Rhapsody, but they brought out the old Napster name a could years ago. Since they went with lossless audio as an option, it's basically CD quality, without the hassle. I also have hours, actually days worth of downloaded music, mostly playlists I made, for listening when I'm either out of cell coverage, or don't want to suck up data, or deal with playback delays if I'm not in great cell coverage.

My phone goes in the holder on the dash, and while you could control the music with the other, it ties directly to my trucks entertainment screen. It shows the artists, and album artwork and I can control the tracks from my steering wheel controls.

Yes, I love the access to anything in my truck with my streaming service.

You're ahead of me Brad, I still only do radio in my vehicles. Good enough for me :) Do you remember parties as a teen and we'd all tune into the same radio station, crank the volume and open our doors? I do, fun times!

Why? I have terrabytes of music, why should I pay to listen to what I have for free already. I load up a 128 gb usb stick and I'm good for a while, get bored. Delete and load up a new batch. I'm a music collector so not only do I have terrabytes on a hard drive, I have milk cartons full of dvd and cds loaded with live concerts.
And I don't need to rely on spotty phone coverage.

Never did that, but sounds like fun. Just a simple radio in the PU now.

I don't need the option. I have free music without advertising or tracking.

That's fine if you don't want any new music. I like old music, but there's a lot of good new music out there. I'd miss that.

Plus, I essentially DJ the summer boat tie outs.

If I want new music, I can download it or buy it and rip it to digital format. Some bands actually have flac files and save you from the process of taking it from cd to computer.
As for lots of good new music that is an individuals personal preference and taste.
side note, I am what is called a taper, I have gear that I go out and record bands if the band allows it or I can get away with it. some may know it as "bootlegging"
akg 480's with 61,62,63 capsules into a grace v3 DAC into a tascam hdp2 - I have plenty of music and still adding.
