I have had this Harbor Freight 900 Watt generator for years. Hardly use it except for the occasional power tool outside. I have a couple modified sine wave UPS's that don't mind the power going through but the pellet stove pure sine wave Cyberpower unit doesn't care for it at all. So I got this idea to turn the generator into effectively a 180watt inverter for $90. I only plan to ever use this as a backup to my bigger generator.

Never able to get in sync with things........

My last job as a independent trucker was Days...Early up (3 am) load by 6 am and work until 5 ish....My last load each day (Usually) was a stock pile load to the concrete plant that was within 10 miles of home.... Great job....

I sorta had a plan, Needed maybe 4 more years of stuffing the 401K. But the back/body said nah! And the job said he's your bronze(gold wasn't until 30 yrs of service) watch "Out to pasture, See ya". Doc said well your a liability cause you fall and trip for no reasons. Ya can stand for more than 10 minute and ya can't walk more than a few hundred feet so heres your slip, get a lawyer and go file.

Got a nice increase in my SS stipend this month, I can use it. Of course my taxable value went up as well. I'm gonna need to increase my rents as the RE taxes are also going up. Cannot win today. I'm sure my 3 renters will whine but I have a deaf ear

I don't ever want to go t work ever again unless it's farming. Don't miss that one bit, especially when the roads are crappy and everyone is in a big hurry because they left late. Not bad here, 38 and overcast. Typical SE Michigan.

If anything, mine is overstuffed and I don't want to leave any behind. Of course the current administration has been whittling at it but I still have a wad. Think I need to pay off some farm equipment this year as well.

No 401 any letter to risky as far as I am concerned have no mortgage that went in December of 1999 and I paid cash for this place now the only problem I have is stupid stock indexed IRA accounts the fools should have all ready combined them, and a trustee transfer should get all six accounts in one place but the fools need a dingle NON PC COMMENT THAT I WON'T MAKE HERE letter me thinks, had this set up so no probate process would be required, been that route twice. Wanted it simple, well not with idiots peopling the offices these days.

Huh, not sure what the risk is to a 401l that an IRA doesn't have. At least my employer contributes to my 401k (not all of them, and some not all the time, but my current one does. Guess I'm not sophisticated to understand.

I gotz a 100% match up to 6%. I was putting in 10% since the 80's and upped it to 12% in 20o0. And added a 1% increase each year after that.. Was trying to sock as much away as possible. Even with the market yoyo, I had a good amount stashed.

I watched mine like a hawk!! Moved it into saver zones if I thought the market was going to go to crap. Moved it back once things settled. If your careful and keep an eye on things, you can do well!.

The doctor who did the live-on the phone-during surgery consult with her first gall bladder surgery in 2016 at Exeter Hospital and did the galbladder surgery in 2019 is at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. Has a wing there named after him. I have a gut feeling she may be going back there in a few months given that she has had issues with stones in the common duct a couple times since 2019 and that doc said he would want to do a surgery to reconfigure her common duct if it happened again. He's a liver/gastro expert so I kinda figure she'll end up seeing him at some point.

There are a ton of instruments that can be in an IRA not all of them carry a large risk or any risk, some 401 plans have limits both for a match and in where the investment must be. I will only allow so much risk, I am past the risk taking when it comes to my retirement. I'm old school if you feel sure in your setup that is fine by me. I will not be one to have to work after being planted.

I have basically been retired since late 2008 so I have a different take on things.

Agreed! Once you retire its a diffent game. If I didn't withdraw, I would only have a small amount I would risk and it wouldn't be much.

Only issue with save/no risk is not much gain compared to the risky stuff. I think back in 2006/07 I made 32% gain on a risky stock. Lost most of it the next term(2008). Took maybe 4 to 5 years to slowly make that back. But when its not your income it was no worries let it ride. Today I would be screaming as the thousands went flyin out the winder!!

I did learn my leason on how to not loose as much. Of coarse I didn't make as much when the money was in a safer spot, But I didn't loose my shorts niether!! Just before every term change I would go to the safer spot and ride it out for a few months. If the market was stable I'd move it back. If the market was like todays, It would sit in the safer spot. Still lost some, But I never lost as much as I did in 2008 ever again! In 2020 when the market plunged, My money was already in the safer zone. I heard my boss scream one morning, He had lost nearly 35K over night.

I lost far less in the safer spot in 2020 than if I had kept it riding. Its a good thing I did because little did I know I was going to have to live off it in 2021.
