Does anyone know what this 'bolt' is that's kinda hanging down from the "ceiling"? It can be pushed up and jiggled.... I've emailed Woodstock but haven't received a response yet...
If it's what I think it is, is a bolt for the expansion of that plate, it appears to be loose but that's the way it's meant to be .
My Ideal Steel is the same way. It's normal and is there for expansion of the plate when the stoves operates.
I bet that baffle plate/air diffusor can bow quite a bit from cold to hot and back again...and like with many metal things, you can let it move and flex, or it'll crack.
oldspark is right.... This is the response I got from Woodstock... "Yes, that is as it should be. That bolt is in there to ensure that as the steel moves around over time, it doesn't sag too much. Let me know if you have any other questions, and enjoy your stove!"
I asked the same about my Ideal Steel a few weeks ago. They should probably put a note in the manual about it.
I had the same exact question….. I looked it over and just assumed it was supposed to be there….. glad I have a answer!
When it get cooking, my plate will bow up an 1-1 1/2" on the left side and bow down the same amount on the right. It's crazy how much SS will warp with heat!! (We're putting in SS air pipe and caustic fill lines on our job now. Its harder to fit than steel pipe because of how much it warps when it's [tig] welded.)
