X2 I know prices have gone up. Wondering what a 261 brings now?

I could never understand why Stihl even makes the 311 since its so close CC wise to the 291 at 57cc. Looking back when i owned my 290 it was a good saw for general firewooding, but now using mostly pro model saws i can see it was underpowered despite the stated CC's. Very reliable though.

The amount of plastic/metal and how fast it spins up is what was explained to me for a 362 vs the 261 vs the 391.

Sounds about right. I was talking to someone very recently and they told me what a 201 top handle goes for now. $829 i think. Mine was BARELY used when i got it two years ago. $679 was the OPE dealer sticker still on it.

    311 should be around $500???

just looked it up and 311 is $600 +:bug: Get a 261 203coffeeman Youll never look back. 18 bar"

    Copy & pasted
Starting at $609.99 with a 18" bar and chain
The MS 311 is a high-tech workhorse with a step up in horsepower and features over the MS 291. With our improved engine technology, you get higher fuel economy for longer run times.

Spend the extra. Maybe get a 16" bar too. With my cutting habits i like to use as little bar as needed. My first 261 came with a 20 but i was used to a 16. I did bury the 20 in bigger wood and it cut better than my 290 did with the same length. Thats when it became a shelf queen and i eventually sold it.
261 comes as a 261c (mtronic carb) or standard carb. Ive come to prefer the mtronic saws.

I have a 16” echo and beat the u know what out of it and it’s still going after many years. Definitely need a 20” maybe something that could handle a 24” once in a while too.

MS362 (59cc) or MS400(67cc). Jump in $$$ though. 20" bar standard and can run a 25". Too bad as buzz-saw just sold a SWEET used MS391. The 261 will handle a 20" but if you cut bigger wood on a regular basis a bigger CC saw is the way to go

My standard two saw plan is a 16 & 20" bar on two saws.

Now your talking big bucks. Lol. But u get what u pay for. I have a monster oak that fell on my property and half way into the lake. That I need to get out. Cheaper to buy the saw “needed one anyways” than get a tree service to do it.

I saw that 4 month time frame myself.
My guess is it is gone.

No FB for me either , zero interest in it at all.
