I am seeing some big sources for ash trees. Knowing about emerald ash borer and the issues with quarantine.

would you kiln dry for wood sales and make it USDA certified?

Does Minnesota have county to county restrictions on Ash transport? Are you going to cross state lines? Sell bundles to gas stations and campgrounds?
Besides Ash what kind of trees will you process?

I think you pretty much have to kiln dry/heat treat if you're going to transport outside of a agricultural boundary, so it would depend on what the restrictions are/are not in your area.
In a small state like RI, boundaries can be quite restrictive and an unfortunate burden if you live/operate right near a border.

You really shouldn't transport firewood very far, but when you start scaling things up volume -wise this becomes an issue.
"Very far" has different geopolitical definitions, so apply whatever definition is applicable to where you live/operate.

too much of a headache for even a medium scale operation. You need to log the heat cycle, have charts, lot codes traceability.
I think you need to buy the "stamp" I don't recall, we had to for the pallet shop I worked at. Different scenario as pallets could leave the country.

One of the things that came out of talking/texting is a lot of this stuff is Ash that’s been hit by EAB. Pretty much restricts this wood now to the county. Unless “treated”.

may be a “good find”. But is it worth messing with the hassles.

    yes, they have movement restrictions.
