Just finished sanding my walls. I know after primer I'll have to do touch up with spacking, but all the big compound work is done. If I ever have to plaster a house again, I'm buying some proper tools.
Yes.. made sure I got all of them, and have checked her over a few times since. She had a couple in the gumline, those seemed to hurt the most. Thx.
Sanding by hand ain't my idea of fun, but you do what you must with whatever best you have. It'll come together.
Made it back home today. Glad the driving is over. Had a good time seeing my daughter and her family. The weather was very nice in South Carolina and we had all our kids with us. It is good to be back home now and to have the wood boiler back up to nice, warm temperature. We watched some movies, went out to dinner a few times, played games out doors in the beautiful sunny weather. We played with and continue to watch our grandson grow like crazy. Back to the usual chores and work around the property tomorrow. And eventually the workhouse. I wish all firewood hoarders a healthy, safe, happy, and fun New Year!
Good to hear. My son's Husky got them deep in his throat. Even the Veterinarian couldn't get to those. Dog recovered OK. I am sure your dog will be fine with your supervision.
Ouch.. Can't imagine them in her throat. I can only imagine that she was very tentative, and probably trying to figure out what she found, and may have gotten a tail slap upside the face. Very glad she didn't attack as she does with woodchucks. That would have Bern a horrible outcome.
We had a husky, Tekayo, go hard at a porky one morning, at our old farm. Let her out... I think she saw it near the apple tree while she was pee'ing. She was back at the door in short order with over 100 quills in her. About 6 were in the back of her throat and more had gone all the way through from the top of her snout. Most were outside and barely missed her eyes. It was ugly. Luckily, our son was home that morning and he was able to bear hug her, while sitting in a chair. He's strong, and he needed all he had. I knew the quills in her throat had to come out fast before they worked their way further down. I was able to get all of them in the throat and the few that were down thru the snout... and we stopped... decided Tek had to get to a vet to remove the rest. Wish we'd had a cone right about then. Tek thrashed all the way of course. She slept for a couple days after all the fun. Ugh. I hates porky's!
I just looked at our forecast. Rain, rain and more rain forecast. But the most of it keeps bypassing us so it is not muddy. Gravel roads are greasy because of frost coming out but that's about all here.
Yeah I just did (well, still working on) a garage addition, and even with having a lot of stuff bought ahead of time, it is still really adding up...the next big expense is gonna be the concrete for the floor...couldn't even get ready-mix for the footer, had to go get a couple pallets of Quickcrete and a mixer, me, the mason, and his helper basically did the footer by hand...stupid supply chain shortages!!!
Checked my flue today, looking good for about a cord of wood through it. Just a light coating of fly ash. Looks good compared to my friends dads... He is going to get a new stove, its going to be an inexpensive one but the one he is using now is just about worn out. Went to a Amish bulk food store the other day, i should have taken pictures of the lights. I could not believe how bright they were and they were wired into a dewalt battery. I would like to do something like this in the pole barn.
Or at their English neighbors house... My former FIL had a chest freezer in his garage that he rented to the Amish neighbors...it was common to look out and see a buggy parked in the drive and the garage light on...they had quit a bit of ice cream and popsicles in there
These guys had it plugged into an apparatus in the corner of the store, was not plugged into the wall. They also had a cell tower outback of their property.
