A four door machine starts out at 42k. I built one real fast for grins, nothing fancy ( windshield, winch, stereo ) and I was at 48k. If I spent some time and went through their whole accessory list you could easily hit 55 - 60k. I'm assuming you looked at two door models. That's what I would get personally, but some folks ride with their family and friends.
Correct 2 door, I guess wasn’t thinking of that because never would consider the 4 door in that type of machine. Personally think the long chassis would ruin what it’s intended for but maybe I’m wrong have been many times before
What about the original Kawasaki mule? I've never owned one, or even driven one, but they were around at the start, maybe even started the sxs thing, and they are well built.
The original mules are workhorses...slow as molasses in winter, but you couldn't kill them. My BIL worked one hard for many many years on his farm in WV
You are both correct on the original gator and mule, both straight axle, slow as molasses in January. The Yamaha Rhino started the modern SXS craze.
I recently investigated the SxS market, models, pricing and reviews. Narrowed down to JD Gator and Kawasaki Mule. I was not buying new but preowned and decided on the 4010 Mule as it checked all of my boxes and I could find a number of them with low hours to choose from. Originally was hell bent on the Gator but they were more expensive and seemed to be mostly well used. The Mule has the full sized box which was paramount to me and yes it isn’t fast but I didn’t buy it to tear around in, just as a work tool. Seems since they have been made longer than any of the others (maybe not Gator?) parts and service will be easier to source. I am very pleased with my purchase so far and use it more than expected. It is my first choice over my JD 5420 loader tractor for the smaller jobs.
My friend that owns a Can Am/Arctic Cat/Yamaha/Kawasaki dealership says he hates Kawasaki’s the most….He makes zero money on them after the sale as they never come back for even regular maintenance.
After a couple of decades I need some parts for my old workhorse bayou 300 4x4. Probably those seals are NLA knowing my luck. I'll need to look. Otherwise it might be a part out...
Newest John Deere gators are made in China I believe and have heard aren’t of the quality they were. John Deere also sold can am wheelers in green for a few years.
I believe it, my local dealer told me the same thing when I was looking at a Mule Pro-FX a few years ago. I do find it interesting that Kawasaki puts a Chinese ( Chery ) engine in their higher end Mules though. Last year we ran into a guy on the trails who was giving a tour and he said that he went from Polaris to Kawasaki for his rentals and he has zero problems out of them. He also said to buy a KRX.
What is so special about a seal to take down a machine? Are we talking about a shaft seal or something exotic?
If you contact motion industries they have large lists is standard and metric single and double lip seals to fit about anything
Agreed, if you can find the specs on the seal I would wager that you will find replacements. Chances are very good that those seals were used in a variety of applications and not proprietary to your machine. Let us know how you do with it
If the seal is proprietary, usually a oddball combo of diameters pm me and I'll help you out. Also can make bastard speedy sleeves if needed.
Yeah it's a shaft seal and a bellows for the rear end on that bayou. I'll get to working on it this Spring. Possibly before that.
