Friend of mine had a coral trap with a cell cam and cell triggered gate. He called me last night and said he tripped the gate on at least 7. We went over this morning and gave them a dirt nap. 8 total 7 sows and 1 small boar. 1 sow was pregnant so it was good to take them out .
Me too. Just the thought of it. I've read that if you keep them in the cage and feed them domesticated pig feed for a period it removes the gamey taste. No idea if it's true.
Nice harvest! I’m (almost) jealous, but I’m glad we don’t have a feral hog problem here in New England.
I’ve taken over a dozen wild hogs over the course of several hunts. All but the last two were fine eating, including the biggest boar I’ve got. All hunts were in Texas.
I wouldn't wish those on anybody. Only had them on our place a time or 2. They can tear up some ground.
Wanna bet...they are starting to be a problem in parts of Canada...soon coming to a neighborhood near you... How Wild Pigs Survive Canadian Winters - Canadian Council on Invasive Species Huge feral hogs invading Canada, building ‘pigloos’ as they go
We go down to Marshall / Tatum TX every year in March ( before the snakes and gators come out ) to go hog hunting. I agree, they can tear up a lot of ground fast. This was from 2020. I shot the boar with the white stripe and my friends shot the other two. The one on the right was loaded with babies that were pretty close to being born. The sows are always pregnant with piglets and very thin and the boars are always very fat. Makes for some good eating.
