Found some time to run the splitter today. I've worked up a decent heap so far. I should be able to finish splitting what I have left in rounds in the next day or two.

The heap behind the gas can is what I worked on today. Made up of soft maple and tulip, it will be a shoulder season mix some day.

What I have remaining is behind the splitter. Thankfully it's mostly maple left, I'm not a fan of the tuplip.

After I get that done my least favorite task of stacking everything will be left. Here are some pictures of the varies heaps I have to stack.

Looks like you're getting er done though, I would rather split than stack but it all has to be done.
It's not over till you take the ashes out :)

Nicely done rdust. Looks like you have some pretty good sized splits to fill that beast with. That saves a lot of work and holds the fire longer too.

Hard to tell but it's a little bigger today. Stopped short to spend some time with the family. My son starts Kindergarten tomorrow so I didn't want to waste the day splitting wood. Hopefully I can finish up tomorrow.

Looking really good buddy.....you have a lot of wood there!

I used to hate stacking but I actually have learned to enjoy it.....my boys haul the wood over from the splitting area where it gets heaped to the stacking area where I take over. I got 'er down to a science now, I can stack it faster than they can bring it over with the old tractor and garden cart!

Enjoy your son, don't miss out on those years.....they fly by way too fast.....

Not sure about all that but I'll get it done sooner or later. :)

If I could get the stuff to season in a heap I would. I don't use the word much but I *hate* stacking wood. :(

If I could just shake the wife and those pesky kids I could finish up in no time.

    That part help!! :)

That area is an absolute mess! It's convenient since it's at the end of the drive but it's not a pretty view when you pull up. My wife tolerates it for the most part so it works.

I learned from the best! :D I try not to make them any bigger than 8x8 . Big rounds make big splits, small rounds small splits. :)

If I had someone feeding me the wood it wouldn't be nearly as bad. I move wood multiple times so it gets old loading the cart and moving it around. I stack about 500' from my splitting area to start then move it to the stacks near the splitting area the year before I'm going to use the wood. It makes for a lot of moving. Once I get a wood shed built I'll only move it from whatever spot it seasoned in to the wood shed which will help.

Yeah these first 5 have cooked by, I imagine it only gets worse. :(

Today I finished splitting this heap. I have maybe a 1/3 cord of ash to split but that's about it at this point.

Here are a couple different angles of the heap of it, it's gotta contend for one of my biggest heaps.  I'm guessing there are 3 to 4 cords in it, we'll see some day once I find time to stack it.
