You all are HORRIBLE… bunch of enablers each and everyone of you… I ordered my first triaxle of hardwood to be delivered next week. plan is to make the Timbers and such I’ll need for the wood yard bunk table etc and then transport it 100 miles and set it up permanently… the tools at hand to do the task. It’s sporting an 18” chain at the moment. I pickup a 25” bar next week for when things get serious. dad’s old saw isn’t as old as I thought. 14” picco chain. 2005 MS180 C. Works good for limbing. Definitely not enough saw to clean up 5 acres of woods though.
when I was a teenager in high school. I cleared mom about a half acre for a garden as a kid with just a chainsaw. spent a lot of time cutting wood line for the farmers I’ve worked for.
I hope you didn’t sign up here thinking this was some sort of 12 step fellowship for firewood hoarders looking to kick their habit. Quite the opposite
For the wood yard bunk table. I would take it slow and easy with that saw. Milling can be hard on saws. Here is one I did.
Be careful or you will soon have more than that. More saws. A tractor. Skidding winch. Pevy's and Cant hooks. A sawmill. I know it happened to me and I Cannot stop. If you're not careful it turns into a native lumber house.
What kinda sawyer are you? the 180 is a bit small and a homeowners saw. So it needs to be upgraded at least to a 261. both of those saws need backups in case you drop a tree on them or pinch the blade. need at least one 462 for those true wood cutting jobs. And again, that safety saw… man’s for those storm jobs, you gotta get a 661 magnum or equivalent. And it’s back up… leta not foget, you need to also get the old style to those., echo, Mac and husky versions of all those too. and then you have examples like Buckin’ billy and his small saw collection… aspirations…
