The genny ran for about 21 hours straight keeping the shack warm. Used less than 15 gals of gas. Would have ran all of it is a certain bozo had bought the wire for the interlock switch.

With these temperatures I’d need to have the stove running on 11 with the fan loud as can be. Doing the heatpump instead.

Sorry your basement flooded. Frozen ground and massive thaw (plus rain) is no one's friend.

My garage floods from water coming in under the overhead door. It used to come in thru various areas of the foundation too, but it seems I found all the leaks and got them stopped up. There is a sump in the back corner that shares a wall with the basement. My biggest problem is right now I can't get the overhead door open because it is frozen shut (thank goodness my truck lives outside and I don't need the snow blower). It should thaw as warmer weather comes in toward the end of the week.

I went to check on the elderly neighbor yesterday and his storm door was frozen shut. More accurately, the push button was frozen so I had to hold my hands around it to unthaw it before I could get in. I had tried to call him before I went over to tell him to get a grocery list together, but he didn't answer his phone. Found out he had lost the phone in his lift-up chair. It had worked its way all the way down to the motor so I had to tilt the chair up and search for that dinky flip phone before I could finally retrieve it for him. Hope he learned not to fall asleep with it on his stomach.

Well now.....Another one in the books...
50F this morning here at the ranch.....Big stove running on medium heat and the house is a cozy 72F
Little stove shut off yesterday afternoon.....Not needed.

Gonna pull maintenance on the little guy today.....
We also need to get Munchy going and refill the "Stove ready" barrels in the basement...
The week long cold and two stoves running Balls to the wall sucked up 2-1/2 barrels worth.

Overall we got through this one very well......No tree limbs to clean up....and no power outage to deal with.
Had to shut off the water stand pipe and drain below the floor after morning/evening feeding for several days....Not a big deal.....Just a bit more work is all.....
Toss the hose in the tack room (Heater in there)
Frozen water buckets are always a PITA.......Heated buckets are nice but horses will fool with cords....NOT GOOD....

There are rumors about a recall on certain serial numbers of the Grand Teton pellet stove. I would guess that it isn't worth shipping them back to the source so they pitch them.

Interesting cause a lot of people posting on that sub reddit recently with problems they're having with recently purchased Grand Tetons from TSC.

Actually a ton of new pellet stove owners posting there as well. Looks like most had no idea what owning one entails and just bought one cause it's cheaper than oil, electric, etc. I did lurked for a year on the forums gathering info before we pulled the trigger on ours. I post directing people to post here and the other forum cause they're more likely to find answers faster.

Far too many folks do not have a clue about running a pellet stove....

Around here it is "A WAY OF LIFE" Our stoves are part of day to day living.......Anyone who thinks that heating the house is "Just turning up the T stat" and warm air comes out of somewhere....need not apply....
Having a pellet stove is a full time job....multiple stoves....A career maybe...

"Hey bozo, The stove eats more than 2 bags a day with single digit temps!!" Me to myself wondering why the shack is cold! Duh!! Would have been fine if I got up my normal time, But too much xmas cheer makes one sleep till 10 am. Must have been all that turkey and pie!

    o_O

Ah well, All is back to normal. Fired the oil smog and filled the hopper should be good to the next forget oops moment. Surprised the wifey didn't wake me as she's home the next few day burning up the last of her vacation time. And the cats want the sunspot that comes in by 8 am in the MBR. They usually pester me to move so they can get comfy.

Hope everyone had a great xmas!!

Must be a magor issue as most manu's fix the issue with upgraded parts and such. One would think they would want them back to refurb like Englander does. Total waste to just scrap them!

Wonder what the reason for the recall is??

Our cat is used to me being up by 6am every day and gets his 1st round of canned food for the day . Slept in a bit and around 7 he jumps up on my chest, gives a couple meows and head butts me a couple times which I took as "hey bub you're late. I'm hungry, lets go". Does the same if I'm napping late afternoon for his 2nd round.

Lori wasn't feeling well Sat & yesterday so we're having our Xmas dinner today. Standing rib roast, be done soon :stirpot:

My wife is up at 5 am during the week and she feeds them. On weekends I get the "hey bud you up" stomp head bonk nudges to get up at 6 am.

They let me know its lunch time with the parade into my office at around noon or 12:30. And again at 6 PM. If I'm busy tinkering one will usually jump in my lap with the evil eye's and the stomp/claw scratch deal. Most times I just feel the 3 or 4 sets of eye's burning holes in the back of my head! So demanding and easily on their chit list if you be a minute late!! How the heck do the tell time??
Only place I can get away is the basement. But when I come upstairs there usually a herd waiting with disappointed looks of dispare!

    :emb:

Home made turkey sammich with cranberries and stuffing for lunch and a piece of apple pie for the kicker. I think its nap time :D

All 7 kitties had some dark meat turkey as if the porkers really need it! They were already hogging the bed by the time the Mrs. and I finished our pie.
