Gotcha, Yeah I usually order my cold weather boots a size bigger but I have never considered getting them 4 or 5 sizes bigger!

I do have the two pack of the -50 Icelandic socks on the way.

For winter weight I have 2 pairs of Sorells and a pair of Muck Artic Chores. They all get occasional use. I’ve been out well below zero in them. The Sorells have been around a while and the liners are a bit beaten down. I personally have had not had problems with my pair of arctic Muck although I see most are saying they aren’t very good.. They have been thru many a stream and slushy snow without leaking. I’ve spent a day in the icy water working on a bridge without getting cold feet. I’ve also walked many miles in them. I do need the right socks though. A thin old pair will load to hot spots or blisters. Feet do get wet eventually. Be it from sweat or snow getting in over the tops. Because of that I can’t keep them on all day long, 8-10 hours is too much.

I also have a pair of Muck Chore ST boots. They are used during the wet season when I’m out doing trail building/maintenance.

What is there for work, i imagine it’s like everyplace else, always jobs to be had for someone willing to work. I like to think I’m pretty handy and have a good work ethic but the place I’m at ( for the last 30 years) has kinda ruined some of that.

Is fast eddys still a thing? I devoured a sweet roll there that was bigger than the plate they served it on.

You both should load up a 18 wheeler box van and move out. I know of a 2br 2ba 2 1/2 acres, log house for sale.

I've had a pair for 23 years. I keep them in my work van all year and used them for snowmobiling and other cold weather events.
They are a little clunky, but they just work.

I'm going to get a pair of Muck boots (a from me to me Christmas gift) this week.

Check out the Bogs I posted in an earlier post. I like them way better than mucks. Bogs are really comfortable. On the Bog website you can choose the temp range for that line of boot.

Property isn’t to expensive, if it’s on a state maintained road is more desirable as well as if a power line borders. Tok is an unincorporated township, no property tax, no town office, no permits to do what you want on your land. Alaska has no state income tax and most places don’t have a tax. Some towns like Anchorage and Fairbanks do but it’s mostly on what a tourist would also pay like hotels, rental cars, etc.

Thats kinda of funny... I read back through this thread... I happen to ask my buddy what his boots were, cause he's alway raving about them... Bogs is what he has too... he's suppose to get back with the exact style... but I think he says they are like 4 or 5 years old...

So anyways socks... I've got 2 pairs of "heavy" socks that I wear in my redwings when its cold otherwise its just my white Costco socks. If I get a pair of cold weather boots what do I need to get 0 is usually as low as we traditionally get... Thin sock liners and a heavier set of wool socks? Basically for snow removal and around the home...

Sock layer and thick depends on how warm the boot is and how active you are. Just remember cotton kills (because it holds wet against your skin-hypothermia). If your feet are normally warm take that into consideration. Think about trying a wool liner and a mid weight sock. Give that a try ( if you can remember) did that combo work or does it need to be adjusted for temp if they were cold or warm.
