Cut some tree service red oak today at at a lady's house in town. Hauled it to a friend that has an insert. We cut all ours 16"s but he needs 24"s.
There is some, but seems like it's on the Iowa side. To my knowledge, I've never had any hickory in my stash. Off topic, when I was self-employed in Grand Island I had a good friend living in Broken Bow. He retired, purchased a motorhome and roamed the country. Lost track of each other around 2004-5 and I lost his cell number. Out of the blue, he ran across my number and called me Friday. He is now living in Calloway so need to get out that way to catch up with him. Just made my day hearing from him.
Well if you make it out to Calaway let me know and throw in your 550xpg, we can meet up at an elm score I have lined up that’s about halfway between Calaway and Thedford. It would be nice/fun to meet and cut with another FHC member. P.S. bring a trailer
Hauled this load to the finance manager that we bought our truck from 2 years ago. At least I'm getting a little back from him.
Pulled a good load of oak with the duramax today. I'm guessing maybe 8-10k by the feel of it. This load was sitting at my parents on the other side of town so it wasn't a long haul. Picture was after I pulled the straps off .
Load of hickory splits, maybe 25% shagbark, the balance pignut. Cut Fall 2019, split Spring 2020 Half cord stacked in my friends shed. Ill bring more to fill up.
Life changing heat on its way to a new owner. Mostly red oak and ash with a few dashes of white oak and hickory.
That’s a great idea for someone younger than me. Yes I will be disappointed if there’s not some extra paper. She’s got a pile of 30 logs I might be interested in. Had some other folks wanting to know if I’d clean up an Asplundh job. I should have sent them pictures of my yard.
Current amount is conservatively guessed at 8 face cord. I have return trips to a couple prior cuts from that thread. A score of fresh cut lined up which was unexpected. Been raining every few days here, which doesnt help. Other scores interrupt my focus on BL. Next week should add a cord to the tally. Plenty of sources for it, just have to work them. Merry Christmas to you!
