Colder here. What's your temp? What ya burnin?

Just got up to feed both stoves.6 degrees outside 63 inside.propane heater had been running.we burnt all there Xtra wood that we brought in yesterday.feed the stoves several times last night.just put 1 piece of tulip poplar, 1 piece of red oak and one big split of pin oak in the living room stove.in the kitchen stove after raking the coals I put one piece of ash,one piece of mulberry and one big pin oak split.next time I'll have to get some ash out of them,it's building up quickly

 

now that's COLD! .

6/68. I got up around 2am to feed grandma bear and the pellet stove has been running on level 2 all night. Wind is still kicking but not as bad as yesterday evening. Gotta go fire up the truck and head into work to salt. The ol duramax is gonna be angry this morning.

 

Down to 13 here. Just loaded the Wood Gun with Maple, Ash, and a big split of White Pine. It is a dam mess outside. And I volunteered to work 4 hours of overtime this morning when I could have been off.

 

Warming up very nicely ! Thank God !
Has warmed up 15° F, 8 or 9 °C in the last 7 hours!
Another load of seasoned white spruce in the stove.

It’s 5 and I’m burning Red and White Oak. I don’t recall a colder temp in NC in the 30yrs I’ve been here. Saw video of the Buffalo blizzard and I’m grateful my family can still travel today.

 

Actually warmed up yesterday to 8. That was a nice surprise. It was windy, and snowing all overnight. Looks like that plow truck is goig to have it's hands full today/tomorrow once I tackle it. No idea how much yet; probably close to 10? But its that dense heavy (not wet) snow that is wind driven.

6 now.

 

13 here with about 3" of new snow. Still blowing. Indoors is still 72. Boiler will get a reload with Oak here shortly.

 

Warmed up this morning, up to 3. 70 in and the Buck had a nice big chunk of locust still glowing.

 

-2 here a couple inches of snow that are just blowing around. The house was 66 when I woke up a mixture of ash and elm in the insert ash in the boiler. Old farm houses take some BTU's when it gets like this outside.

 

-2/65 loaded some tulip poplar in the fireview. Time to burn off all of these coals.

Woke up when the furnace kicked on. Loaded at 10pm with Beech, lasted till 7:00. Thermostat is in the coldest room just to keep pipes from freezing.....I could dial it back a bit more maybe. The sun is up and the winds are down and doggo is ready for morning outing......finally. Might need gloves and heavy jacket today

 

4*f. 69 in the house. Temps are going up. High of 25f forecast. Oak and hickory keeping it warm.
