Got a text from my friends wife this morning. Tree took out their internet, but not cable. Landed on one of my stacks. Cleared it off the lines this afternoon in a light rain. Smaller red maple ill process for him to burn. Local theatre lost part of its roof. FHCers from the area will know the Oakdale. Heard it on the news and being a tradesperson i had to check it out. Building insulation littering the back side. Another local news van pulled in when i was leaving. The only damage i saw in my travels locally. Stay warm and safe FHC!
Good grief! No way you'd catch me on a roof today. Currently 20-30mph sustained, 50mph gusts and the chill factor is in the negatives. It's nasty here.
Temp wasnt too bad at the time, but it was windy. Felt bad for them being up there. Wind s#@%$ when youre on the roof...especially in the cold. There was an access hatch on the back side.
This i know. The "internet" line was broken off. I have a couple friends who are linemen and have talked to them about it. His line has been replaced in recent years from trees landing on it.
Haha! Yea it looks a lot like power lines around here. The power wire with that bare support wire that they attach to the house to help support it? Maybe neutral wire too? I don't know a lot about the power distribution stuff. I know about it once it hits my house.
The exposed aluminum wire is just support for the conductor wires...some may wire them up as a ground...using it as a neutral would be a big huge no no!
Wat da? No, just No Don’t be toying with those things. Someday I’ll sit ya down with a cup of coffee and relay a lesson learned All I’ll say is thank god I was young when I learned it. At this age I doubt I’d get back up. still out of power since 4am. I’m in camping mode. Lol
Yea I thought it was just support. Like I said no expert on that. Meant ground not neutral. I know enough to do my own work in the house doing research where needed.
