My buddy and hired the same day and will retire the same day. He is my second in command. We held a joint retirement get together. He and and my other commander arranged for this gift. The box is hand made by a friend who is in his eighties. A gunsmith, knife maker, fly rod expert, expert sporting clays, builds solar systems etc. and is a PhD. The display box is walnut with some oak inserts. The revolver is a Cimmaron in .357 They insist I shoot it, rather than let it be a "safe queen"
It's nice to be well liked and respected Sourwood! Congratulations on your retirement, slow down and enjoy life, you have earned it.
Well, I spent twenty years working with abused children and women, and I know the things I have done have made tremendous positive impact on lives. Maybe you can accompany an autopsy of a baby or deal any number of things police do that make society work. Better yet, just remain on the "outside of the arena" and wallow in your self loathing.
Congratulations and Thanks for your years of service!!! It takes someone special to go that distance! Now it's time to enjoy "Your time"!
Congrats on the retirement Sourwood And to you for all of your years of service to your community. I don't know what "woodworker bob" posted, and it's fairly irrelevant. There are good & bad folk in every occupation, social, racial group, and when someone generalizes an entire group because of a limited amount of interaction, it says more about that person than the group that they are criticizing. $.02
Yes, I really look forward to an end to not starting projects, from concern it will be interrupted by a phone call. Will likely jump into some gun smithing and refurbishing and other stuff. not even feeling bittersweet. More exciting than anything.
Congrats on your retirement Sourwood It won't take you long to wonder how you ever had time to work with all of your retirement activities.
Congrats on making 37 years, by itself a feat. That is a really cool and healthy outlook to see it as an open door. Done with full time vocation, does not mean retirement. All the very best Sourwood!!
