I watched his youtube channel years back. I hope he can recover from his health issues.

Another cold morning. Minus 35.40C. Burning a mix of Douglas fir and Pine. Thank God for a wood stove in these cold snaps.

Not sure what area of the up you are in but there's some parts of the up that are going to get blasted by this storm.

Here it was pretty calm. This am the roads were able covered, but I have a super short commute, so no biggie. Last night along I-43 along the western shores of lake Michigan, there was freezing fog and black ice causing some wrecks on the interstate. No bueno.

Today at work it started to snow again after a dusting overnight. Boss told us to go home early today. Ok then. It started picking up snow amounts actually falling and the wind really started picking up. Temperature has dropped quite a bit too. Last night was around 30°, and this am in the 30's. Now it's single digits. I could really feel the temp drop when taking Hayden around the yard for a walk.

My wife cleaned out some ashes so we can load in more wood. 6° out now, Burning box elder, catalpa, and ash. Burning all ash leaves a ton of coals. 71° inside

-4 deg F this morning, a high of -2 deg, and -7 deg F 4 pm (cold enough to hear the trees cracking). Red oak, sugar maple, and white ash in the furnace, stored inside for 4 years, with sugar maple burning the hottest followed by white ash with the red oak producing the best coals (70 deg inside). 3-7 inches of snow was forecast for last night and we got 2-3 inches (Minneapolis got the 7 inches). Used a broom to clean the snow off the drive with a stiff breeze but the big vortex has not arrived yet ("bomber" hats and fleece long johns felt good). -10 deg F forecast for tonight. Very happy to miss the big snow since we have enough (over 5" of base) already for a white Christmas. The birds are feasting on the suet in back with the cold temperatures. Chickadees can eat suet all day long and not get fat (not me...).

35 and rising overnight, until the big cooldown around this time tomorrow. Currently burning down a deep coal bed with some spruce. Tomorrow will be a good day to clean out the stove before I run it hard again.

Temperature is 24, and will drop to 0 at midnight. My CSS supply is low- the trip we took last week set me back. Will be in the bitter cold cutting branches from
my timbered oak to feed the boiler in the daytime hours.

    -6 overnight.

I hope everyone stays warm during this storm, it looks like a bad one for many of you! It's 45 and foggy here and really need to bring wood down from the stacks tomorrow.

Snow started around 2:00 PM here. Temp dropped from 35 to 19F so far. Wind is starting to kick. 10F predicted overnight with a blizzard warning till 7:00 PM Saturday. 2" of snow so far with another 10 to 15" coming they say. Windchills well below zero. Oak in the boiler and the hatches are battened down. This might turn into a real storm.

-6f/72f 0ak, hickory, and ash burning non-stop. 26 mph wind with gusts to 40 mph. Wind chill at -32f. Going to get a bit colder tonight. I've covered the basement and kitchen doors with blankets to help keep some heat in. Probably going to cover the west facing picture window too.

My wife says it makes us look poor. Probably because that's what both are families did when we were growing up. It makes a noticeable difference.

About the same here except I have some hedge mixed in too. Sitting on the couch barefoot in shorts and a T shirt though...feels good in here.
